The Federal Executive Council, on Wednesday, approved N75.78bn contracts for various projects in the Federal Capital Territory, flood control in the six geo-political zones as well as for the Ministry of Transportation. A former attorney general and commissioner for justice in Lagos Olasupo Shasore is being grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives. A source close to the commission disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday. The source added that the ex-commissioner arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC on Tuesday afternoon. According to the source, Mr Shasore is being quizzed over his role in the Process and Industrial Development scam. Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson for EFCC, declined to comment on the development when contacted.

The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been adjourned till January 19 after he objected to the fresh charges brought against him by the Federal Government. The Federal Government had filed fresh terrorism charges against the detained leader of the proscribed IPOB leader before the Federal High Court on Monday, January 17. As a result, the initial seven counts bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, against him, increased to 15. However, at his trial which was held at the Federal High Court Abuja this morning, Kanu objected to the fresh charges.
