A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont until 8 PM EDT.
After a long duration rain event, several Vermont towns are dealing with flooding. Today I went and surveyed some of the flooding across the region.
As I sit here tonight watching video after video and seeing photo after photo of the destruction in Vermont, my heart breaks once again for our small state. The catastrophic devastation, especially down in the Ludlow area, is giving me flashbacks to when Tropical Storm Irene hit Vermont back in 2011.
When people ask me why I live in Vermont, the answer in simple: We are a community who cares about one another. While my heart breaks for all those affected, my heart is also warmed by all the posts I see of people opening their doors to those who cannot be at home this evening because it is not safe to do so.
The damage caused by flooding is catastrophic, but once again Vermonters will rise. We will come out of this okay because as a state we will come together to make sure everyone is alright and rebuild. Once again we will be .
Continuing rounds of heavy rain are expected to produce widespread flash flooding today into tonight. We have already received reports of washed out roads, with more to come. This is a potentially life-threatening situation. Please remain alert today, especially if you live, work, or travel in flood prone areas.

Good morning. We have a beautiful start to the day today with mainly sunny skies across the region and temperatures in the 50s. Today is going to be beautiful! We will see mainly sunny skies across the state with temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Have a great day everyone.
Last night I did some plane spotting at the Burlington International Airport - BTV and captured this photo of the sunset. For those of you who don't know, my full time job is a ramp agent at Fedex Express and let me tell you, at the end of a long day, nothing beats seeing our plane take off into the sunset. Brrrr do we have a chilly night in store for tonight. A frost advisory has been issued for the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont as we will see lows there in the mid to high 30s. The rest of the state will be seeing lows tonight in the low to mid 40s under mostly clear skies. For those of you in the Northeast Kingdom, make sure to cover any outdoor plants that are sensitive to frost.
Here we go again... the NWS Storm Prediction center has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for our area until 10pm tonight. Over the next few hours look for severe thunderstorms to be popping up across the region. The main threat with these storms will be strong winds and possible large hail.
A couple severe thunderstorm warnings (in orange) as storms are coming through the region. Winds excess of 40 mph and half inch size hail are possible with these storms.

[5:28 PM] A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is now in effect for northeastern Essex County in northern New York, and southwestern Lamoille County, north central Addison County, central Chittenden County, and northwestern Washington County, Vermont. At 5:23 PM, the thunderstorm was located near Willsboro, New York, and moving to the east at 30 MPH. It is capable of producing 60 MPH winds and quarter size hail. Take shelter if you're in the path of this storm!

Good afternoon everyone, as I was about to post about the temperatures across the region the U.S. National Weather Service just issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of Vermont except Bennington and Windham counties until 11pm tonight. Keep a look to the skies and the radar to see what is coming!
Original post: These are the current temperatures as of 3 pm across the region. As you can see temperatures are currently in the mid to high 80s with the feel like temperatures into the 90s in some spots. The radar right now is quiet, but be on the look out for potentially severe storms popping up this afternoon.

Good morning and happy Thursday! Today we are starting out with mainly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 40s to low 50s across the region. Today: Rain showers will be developing. The graphic below via the US National Weather Service Burlington VT shows the chance of showers during the day today. Highs today in the 50s, but temperatures will drop later this afternoon as a cold front comes through the area. Winds will be brisk out there as we have a southernly wind with gusts 25 to 35mph. Tonight: Mainly cloudy across the state, but don't rule out some scattered snow showers. Any snow won't be amounting to much. Lows tonight in the mid 20s to low 30s. Friday: Cloudy with some breaks of sun. Its going to be cold with highs in the mid 30s to low 40s. We will see some mountain snow showers on Friday. A dusting to 2 inches in expected over 1500 ft.
