NAM3k Model Run
2:15AM EDT: Rain continues to affect the area, this will continue through this morning, a break in precipitation is possible Mid-Morning before it starts back up after 12PM.
A Change-Over to Sleet/Freezing Rain is expected between 2-3PM, before a full transition to Snow is likely. We don’t expect ice to be a big impact for our area, Little to no ICE accumulation is expected.
As you can tell with our FutureNAM3k Model Run, a VERY HEAVY Band of Snow forms this afternoon at around 5PM. This band will have potential to drop 1-2” of snowfall per hour. In addition, our snowfall amounts have potential to increase, if this system keeps tracking more south. At this time, 3-6” of Snow is expected across all of the area.
Forecast for this will change due to Shifting in this Storm System. Be sure to monitor this page closely, we will have a additional update out this afternoon for the snow-part of this event.

Winter Storm in 2 weeks?
Good Evening!
•**MIAMI COUNTY REMAINS IN “CODE RED” TRAVEL ADVISORY AS Of 10:45PM, FEB 3**
10:45PM EDT: All Snowfall should be finished across our area for quite some time, what a monster of a storm! Over a FOOT of Snow was recorded in many areas, some areas even picked up 18”, mainly far northern Indiana!
Major Drifting will start to calm down as the overnight progresses, Drifts up to 4’ were reported, this has made many, many county roads impassable. Some side roads may also be impassable as well to, but as snow is done, crews will have a much better chance to get all the plowing done faster than what they could last night, due to the added snowfall that occurred today.
Now.. we know everyone is sick of the snow (atleast for now), well, we get a break from major storms for atleast close to 2 weeks..
We know this is far out and it’s almost impossible to predict anything right now, but, we are tracking another possible MAJOR STORM SYSTEM between February 16-18, it’s way to far out to say it’ll happen, and especially to know the precipitation types we might receive, and the amounts of any type.
From the looks of the GFS-AMERICAN Model located in that video we attached to this post, it shows a setup just like the one we received the last 2 days, A front comes down south from canada, this front will eventually merge with a storm system that is coming from the gulf of mexico, now.. when this happens, it’s always bad news. This storm system (if it happens), will have a large amount of moisture with it, and with this happening, it can create a monster storm system.
Now like we said, we don’t know if this is going to happen, but there is definitely a chance from the looks of it. We will definitely watch closely as this system develops, and like we said, we don’t know much of it right now, considering it hasn’t even formed in the ocean, but there’s definitely a chance.
Stay tuned!
Winter Storm Round 2
**WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7PM THURSDAY NIGHT**
10:15PM EDT: We are closely monitoring the Second Wave for the Major Winter Storm that has hammered our area so far, we expect a second wave to move in to our area tomorrow morning and last through the afternoon and end the early evening.
It is possible that this storm moves south more, and if that happens, our snow totals will be lower, to if any additional snowfall on top of what we have already. If it does a more northern track, our totals will rise just a bit.
From what we’ve been monitoring, we expect amounts to range between 3-6” additional accumulation at this time, however this is going to change, either go up or down. We should know more by tomorrow morning. We will continue to monitor and post updates as needed.
Winter Storm Landon Time Laspe
We wanted to share this just to show everyone how long duration, and powerful this Winter Storm will be. Please watch!
As you can see, it stays in our area for quite some time. Also at times, it’s stronger and then lighter at times - regardless it’s going to produce a massive amount of Snow and very dangerous travel, and impossible travel in some areas as well due to the amount of snow expected.
Amounts up to 18” are expected at this time.
