Euan Dalgarno - ILLIKKIS is out today.

Acoustic instruments and subtle electronics are pieced together, to shape an album that is cinematic from start to finish.

Using a minimal set-up Euan creates high resolution sonic sculptures free from compression and processing. These raw artefacts get closer to the listeners psyche leaving room for exploration and interpretation.

“This album sees influences from minimal classical composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass, to modern composers such as Julia Wolfe, Caroline Shaw and Nico Muhly.”

Recorded in between family and solo trips into the Scottish wilderness and mountain walks in the highlands. The landscape is that of Munros, Corries, Bealachs, Glens and Lochs, translating into music that is expansive and meditative.

mjwilkin - Music For Friends And Family is out today.

Spanning pop, drone, electronic and ambient, the release thoughtfully, and effortlessly pushes experiential boundaries, creating an immense soundscape for the listener to delve into.

An amalgamation of collected times, feelings and places, ‘Music For Friends And Family’ is a sonic offering for contemplation and escapism.

The film clip for 'JJJ featuring Ruven' was born of the same process that underpins the album - connection through collaboration. The 16mm film was shot by Lee Burnett, and the landscape featured is that of Cornwall in Southwestern UK. This spot became a refuge of sorts while mjwilkin was living the UK. The pair would go there regularly as friends to wind down and let their usually hectic lives in London go.

"The landscape there is stunning, and the feeling of standing on cliffs watching the sunset will be forever etched in brain, so I had to get that nostalgic visual added to accompany the track."

Weaving threads of grotesque and ethereal electronics, Makeda navigates the sectoral contains of intimacy and sonic boundaries, manufacturing a post-future sound from the club, but not necessarily for the club.

Influenced by an array of experiences, ‘Venus Leak’ tracks the process of recalibrating oneself in the face of a changing world, centrally - musing on doomed love and the final destination of personal growth.

The EP was completed during the move back to Makeda’s home-town of Brisbane - where the space, blue sky and sub-tropical weather play strongly into the concepts of intuition and self-realisation.

mara - 'The Formation of a Cloud' is out now.

The collection contains works written for the short film of the same name produced by Jenn Tran, an exploration of memories set in Solomon’s Ford on Wurundjeri Land. Expanded into this release from the initial film score, the narrative has been kept while allowing time for the listener to sit in the environment through these field recordings.

'The Formation of a Cloud' exerts an effortless tension between organic and electronic, so masterfully curated, floating through each composition feels tangible and abstract all at once. An immensely beautiful release, unearthing delicate sensibilities in our shared environments.

“The overlay of live footage and animation prompted a mixing of real and synthetic sounds. Instruments and field recordings are augmented with effects or layered with electronic sounds to create a world somewhere between the remembered and the present.”

"The song starts with piercing strings, gradually building to create a somewhat ominous soundscape. It almost sounds like it could be sound tracking a horror movie, or could be a Tim Hecker B-side, but the key word in that remark is almost. Everything about the song is uncanny, you feel like you can almost rationalise it and understand it, but you never quite can; there is some sort of receptive dissonance that unnerves yet entrances the listener."

In July of this year, we were fortunate to present a showcase at Meat Market's Flat Floor Pavilion between lockdowns. The much needed magic of music and connection was the perfect antidote to a difficult year for many, it also gave artists the platform to work on something special. Grace Ferguson and her father, set designer Dale Ferguson (Because The Night, Tosca) worked together for the first time on a conceptual meeting of place, presence and sound.

Special thanks to R. Rebeiro, E Fishpool, Nico Niquo, Grace and Dale Ferguson, Ed Gurr and everyone else who came together to make this event possible, and beyond that, memorable.

Pandit Pam Pam's Quinto Relatório Anual is out now.

‘Quinto Relatório Anual’ is the latest release from São Paulo electronic artist, Pandit Pam Pam. The follow up album to his 2020 EP, ‘Quarto Relatório Anual’. The artist uses much of the same instrumentation, intuition and improvisation more commonly found in performance than cut to tape.

The two titles are inspired by Throbbing Gristle’s influential 1977 ‘Second Annual Report’, one of the first known examples of the industrial genre. ‘Quarto Relatório Anual’ and ‘Quinto Relatório Anual’ were recorded in the Brazilian countryside, away from the busyness and complexity of São Paulo life.

“I recorded mostly in deep summer in the countryside. Surrounded by trees and lots of sun. I was looking through the window at a small gathering of lemon trees and orange trees.”

The eight track release straddles ambient and post-club, the collection feels bucolic and futuristic at once. An ode to isolation, missing friends and long conversations.

"I am often captivated by music’s ability to hold space and nourish connections amongst us; warmly delivering a textured presence and buoyancy to the now.

The following hour is an aural representation of some recent moments shared exploring the depths and discomforts of stillness in myself. A somewhat scattered state of acceptance amidst the flux of shedding and growth.

Recorded on a stormy Makuru evening in Walyalup, many of the tracks played represent feelings of forgiveness, distance and the internal tussles of self-surrender.

Best paired with a pot of honey-laced tea, I hope this mix can soundtrack the sometimes chaotic dance of the world outside your window.

Pandit Pam Pam - 'Quinto Relatório Anual' is out 26 August.

'Quinto Relatório Anual’ is the latest release from São Paulo electronic artist, Pandit Pam Pam. The follow up album to his 2020 EP, ‘Quarto Relatório Anual’. The artist uses much of the same instrumentation, intuition and improvisation more commonly found in performance than cut to tape.

Recorded to tape using his 25-year-old Tascam 442 4-track, Pandit Pam Pam manipulated the k7 tape in search of new depths of tone. The result is a beatless, ambient, distortion filled release - an ode to isolation, missing friends and long conversations.

The first single 'Bondade' has premiered over at Ransom Note.
