FORSYTH COUNTY – The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has charged a student after weapons were found during a random K-9 search at Glenn High School, in Kernersville.
On May 13, 2024, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was conducting a random search when K-9 Hondo alerted deputies about a vehicle in the student parking lot. Deputies searched the vehicle and located one (1) handgun, one (1) airsoft firearm, one (1) extended loaded magazine, one (1) standard loaded magazine and one (1) box of ammunition. The student was located after
a short foot pursuit and was subsequently charged.
Josue Montesio-Mendoza, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, has been charged with one (1) Felony count of Weapon on Campus (NCGS 14-269.2), one (1) Misdemeanor count of Weapon on Campus (NCGS 14-269.2), one (1) Misdemeanor count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon (NCGS 14-269) and one (1) Misdemeanor count of Resisting a Public Officer (NCGS 14-223).
Montesio-Mendoza is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond and has a court date set for May 14, 2024.

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System has notified Parents and Guardians of the incident. There will be additional safety measures in place, at Glenn High School, through the remainder of the week.
