7 YEARS AND STILL KICKING

Just past a pretty crazy milestone this past week and just wanted to say THANK YOU and take a second to recognize the accomplishment.

It has been a BLAST chasing the passion each day. We’re most proud of the team we’ve built hosting in Minneapolis and now Denver (soon to be other locations 😏🚀). These guys and gals are absolute studs and we’re so stoked to have them aboard the rocket ship.

We’ve been partnering with the great for the past THREE YEARS raising money and we’re stoked to say we raised over $1300 from the event on Monday

Meet the new guy! Cade is our new host for and we couldn’t be more stoked to have him on the team

We met Cade back in season 2 when he appeared on ep 7 and had arguably the best 10 min date we’ve seen on the show

Remember that time we all raised $40k for a family?!!THEY FINALLY MOVED INTO THEIR HOME LAST WEEK!

After a long 6 month search for the right home and lots of backend logistical efforts, the family living out of a hotel is now in a home they can call their own

Just a good reminder how powerful the gift of giving is.

At the time it felt like the weirdest thing in the world to do but now looking back it was a great decision

We kept it to a tight hour. Spend sometime catching up with us as we recap all the changes we’ve made since January within the Corp, the insanity of SZN 2 and what’s to come for SZN 3 in fall of this year.

Notes from our 1st EVER Company Retreat:

1. We are builders - not just podcasters

2. Triple down on

3. Moving on from old projects is ok. It’s a sign that you’re growing

4. Constantly remind yourself why you do what you do and build new things around that why

5. Focus on one thing (& no more than 3 things lol) at a time

Felt pretty amazing to spend some time TOGETHER and also spend Corp $$ on ourselves. 5 years ago we would’ve never had this opportunity and it’s cool to recognize that’s what we have.

Boatchella is officially a thing of the past

Over the past few months, we decided to pull the plug on arguably the best day of summer, biggest success in BP history, and overall just something we looked forward to year in and year out.

Why? We wanted to create space for new opportunities

At the end of the day Boatchella was a party that took 8 months to plan. And while that was worth it back when we started it, there are just too many other avenues we LOVE that Boatchella was getting in the way of

Stopping this event feels like a break up. It feels like we made a mistake ending it. However, since taking it down we’ve finally made time for the future of BP

That future will be a conversation to be had very soon and rolling out the ideas and concepts to the people who care most the response we get every time is simply a “f**k yes”

Cheers to the hustle. We’re in year 5 and it feels like we’ve got a blank canvas and it feels incredible.

5 years ago we started something called the Backpocket Podcast

It’s truly wild to think about the heroes journey it’s been the past 5 years - let alone the last year itself

The one constant that keeps us coming back is the opportunity to build a community. We barely even record podcasts together anymore (not because we don’t want to, just entertained in other spaces at the moment). We constantly find new ways to be unique and bring people together because at the end of the day that’s what’s fun and that’s what we always hold closest to our hearts

The 1000+ wildly average people over 5 years can really cause a ruckus. We intend to do more of that in year 6 in some new spaces

We love each and every one of you. There’s nothing cooler than this opportunity we have right in front of us in year 6.

OK WE ARE BACK!

After a 6 week hiatus on social we are back in the saddle ready to rock with NEXT WEDNESDAY

The show is returning for SZN 2 and we’re going all in this season with production.

This time around we will be releasing each Kings & Kweens episode every Monday along with a special talk show/recap hosted by us, , and every Tuesday! We’ll be accepting call ins to the show and welcoming all drama and tea willing to be spilt

The content will be truly insane. The back end production will be bananas. We’re ready to scale this thing up and to the right to fu***ng Mars.

We’ve always said the biggest improvement is always between SZN 1 and 2 and we’re hear to FU***NG DELIVER

Austin is a good friend and founder of Jochum Strength, a strength and conditioning facility focused on training athletes across the greater Twin Cities area and online across the world. Austin recently just moved into his brand new gym after spending his first 3 years in a 400 square foot gym that most nights he slept out of (he can now admit this as he's no longer bound by a lease there lol). We had to keep this one short due to time constraints in our new studio, but it's an electric 1:15 - enjoy.

Patrick Larson is the creator of The Harrier, an apparel brand (you might know one of his t-shirts from UST a few years back). He is a long-time listener of the Backpocket and has been listening regularly for almost 300 of our episodes. He first tuned in while he was in Bulgaria where he was teaching at a foreign language high school as a fresh, Luther college graduate. Patrick is a very invested person and showed that through his story of skiing in Vail with his girlfriend’s parents despite having never skied before and continues to show that through his brand, The Harrier.
