CSU Aparri commemorated the beginning of a new academic year with the event "PBB: Pagsalubong sa Bagong Buhay-Pamantasan" which marked a fresh start and the continued growth of the institution earlier today, August 19 at the CSU Aparri Gymplex.

The event featured some highlights, namely the Presentation of Cheers and Yells, the TikTok Dance Competition, and the anticipated Mr., Ms., and LGBTQIA+ Face of Freshies mini-pageant, which inspired the fun, energetic, and competitive spirit of CSUAns.

The success of the grand welcome not only set the stage for a successful school year but also inspired everyone involved to contribute to the university's ongoing legacy of excellence and unity.

CSU Aparri commemorated the beginning of a new academic year with the event "PBB: Pagsalubong sa Bagong Buhay-Pamantasan" which marked a fresh start and the continued growth of the institution earlier today, August 19 at the CSU Aparri Gymplex.

The event featured some highlights, namely the Presentation of Cheers and Yells, the TikTok Dance Competition, and the anticipated Mr., Ms., and LGBTQIA+ Face of Freshies mini-pageant, which inspired the fun, energetic, and competitive spirit of CSUAns.

Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus (CSUA), spearheaded by the Aparri Campus Student Council (ACSC), celebrated its 'PBB: Pagsalubong sa Bagong Buhay-Pamantasan,' marking the official start of the Academic Year 2024-2025 today, August 19.

Prior to the opening program, a Hawks' Walk was conducted to familiarize the new students with the campus vicinity, followed by the Flag Ceremony at the CSU Aparri Administrative Building.

Afterward, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors from the seven (7) colleges of the campus gathered at the CSU Aparri Gymplex to witness the grand welcome.

In his opening message, Engr. Audy R. Quebral, DPA, Campus Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of students identifying their purpose for being at the institution.

"Do you know your purpose? Now that you are here in CSU Aparri, you find that purpose," he said.

Several highlights during the program included the Presentation of Cheers and Yells and the TikTok Dance Competition that set the gymplex ablaze, and the Mr. and Ms. Face of Freshies mini-pageant, which included an LGBTQIA+ category aimed at searching for new and fresh faces among the incoming students.

Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus welcomes seven (7) international exchange students in fulfillment of the 2024 Youth Futures Exchange Program itinerary, today, August 18.

These exchange students came from Indonesia and Malaysia, from four (4) different universities: Anggita Sari, Nazli Auliya from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Utara, Indonesia; I Made Toni Hendrawan from Warmadewa University, Indonesia; and Ahmad Haziq Darwisy, Jas Mohd Shamir, Jas Mohd Shamir, Nur Hannak Radzuan from Universiti Technologi Mara, Malaysia.

Various activities were prepared, which were experienced after the short program such as fishing in the campusโ€™ production pond, and roaming around Aparriโ€™s coast at Ammaleran, Dodan, and Punta.

Accompanying these students are the university officials, to mention Dr. Giged Battung, the Vice President for Internationalization, Partnership and Resource Mobilization, YFEP Facilitators, participants from the nine (9) campuses of CSU, and the Campus Officials of CSU Aparri.

Dr. Battung expressed her words of appreciation and gratitude for the warm welcome to the participants.

โ€œWe are very happy, and I am sure that our students from Indonesia and Malaysia are too, for we are welcomed by the officials of CSU Aparri very warmly. I am beyond thankful and grateful for this experience you have shared to us.โ€ she said in her speech.

โ€œLet us make their visit here the best out of it, and ensure that they will bring those experiences as they bid goodbye to us on Sunday.โ€ she added.

Meanwhile, Engr. Audy R. Quebral, the Campus Executive Officer told the importance of having these kinds of programs mentioning, โ€œExchange program like this means we are building bridges and breaking the walls, which gives us opportunities to create more and learn more from each other.โ€

The program bears the theme โ€œIntergenerational fairness and sustainabilityโ€ which aims to targeting the global attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

NEWS | Fisheries stude champs PhilHealth regn'l digiposter making

Wensly Paul Aganon, a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries student bested among participating schools for the Regional Selection of PhilHealth's Digital Poster Making Competition.

Aganon won over 27 participating schools in the region on the said competition centered towards the theme, "Kapanatagan" showcasing the security and peace of mind that PhilHealth provides.

The Fisheries student received his award together with his parent, his coach, Ms. Gwyn Manuel, College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) Dean, Dr. Quirino Pascua, Campus Director for Academics, Dr. Corazon Talamayan, and Campus Director for Administration, Dr. Antonio Cabalbag. Representatives from PhilHealth Regional Office 02 presented the said award this July 16 at CSU Aparri.

Meanwhile, Aganon will be representing the region for the National Selection for PhilHealth's 30th anniversary on February, 2025- earning his artwork a chance to be featured for the institution's promotional calendar.

To enroll, please follow these steps:

1. (COLLEGE DEAN) Proceed to your respective College Deans for your interview and submission your requirements.

DO NOT FORGET to get your ADVISING FORM.

2. (CCSO) Present your ADVISING FORM and fill out the necessary forms required from the office. Bring 1 pc. 2x2 ID picture.

Also, submit one (1) photocopy of Certificate of Indigency/ITR/Certificate of Tax Exemption.

CSUA yields 982 graduates for A.Y. '23-'24

Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus conferred degrees and titles to the 982 graduates of Batch 2024 during the 46th Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles yesterday, July 2, at the CSU - Aparri Gymplex.

Prof. Engr. Audy R. Quebral, DPA, the Campus Executive Officer, presented 982 candidates for graduation; 249 from the College of Information and Computing Sciences, 101 from the College of Teacher Education, 64 from the College of Industrial Technology, 30 from the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 113 from the College of Criminal Justice Education, 239 from the College of Hospitality Management, 155 from the College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy, and 31 from the Graduate School.

Hon. Dionisio C. Ledres Jr., CESE, Regional Director of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office 2 and Member of the CSU's Board of Regents, graced the said graduation rites being the keynote speaker.

"Do things that you hate to do but do it like you love it. That's how you survive the difficulties that will come to you. [...] If you keep on learning, if you'll keep on believing in yourself, and you keep going in spite of the odds, everything will be fine," Dr. Ledres said.

Professor Dr. Arthur G. Ibaรฑez, ASEAN Engr., OIC University President charged the graduates, instilling to them the meaning of the university's motto.

"As you embark on your new endeavors, remember the university's motto, 'Ad astra per aspera,' - to the stars, through difficulties. This motto serves as a powerful reminder that challenges are not insurmountable obstacles, but rather stepping stones of the path to greatness," he said.

In sequence, OIC Pres. Ibaรฑez granted awards to 27 Latin awardees followed by the awarding of the Universityโ€™s Top 10 Outstanding Students and UniFAST Academic Excellence Award.

Moreover, Donica Lorenzo, the Campus Batch Valedictorian delivered her Address of Thanks in behalf of the Batch 2024 emphasizing the help and support she obtained from the institution, family, friends, and supporters.

"Our journey has been ours to carve, and today, our achievements are to be celebrated and shared with those whom we cherished the most. [...] What the future holds for now remains unclear, but remember that when God puts us to it, He will bring us through it," Lorenzo stated.

This yearโ€™s academic convocation bears the theme 'CSU: Inspiring Excellence in Achieving Success,' emphasizing CSU's Vision and Mission to produce globally competitive graduates through inspiring excellence in various fields.

| CSU 46TH ACADEMIC CONVOCATION FOR THE CONFERMENT OF DEGREES AND TITLES

Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus held its 46th Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles today, July 2, at the CSU Aparri Gymplex.

Hon. Dionisio C. Ledres Jr., CESE, Regional Director of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office 2 and Member of the CSU's Board of Regents graced the said academic convocation, being the keynote speaker.

Candidates for Graduation of Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus expressed their thanks to God in this year's Baccalaureate Mass earlier today, July 2.

The said eucharistic celebration was presided by Rev. Fr. Augustus Calubaquib, Parish Priest of Parokya San Telmo, who also blessed the diplomas and medals to be presented during the 46th Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles.

NEWS | CWTS, NROTC studes unite at 2nd NSTP Graduation Ceremony

First year students under the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and National Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NROTC) from the different colleges of Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus gathered for the 2nd National Service Training Program (NSTP) Graduation Ceremony held at the Love Hall today, June 24.

Dr. Rexcel Braceros, Campus NSTP Coordinator, urged graduates to uphold the values taught to them through the NSTP.

"May I appeal to you, Batch 2023-2024 completers of NSTP elements CWTS and ROTC, to continue upholding to the values taught to you [...] We will continue believing in you until the day you finally make the people who have faith in your individual capabilities proud," Dr. Braceros stated.

Dr. Antonio Cabalbag, the Campus Director for Administration, emphasized the importance of serving the country through the NSTP in his inspirational message.

"Today, my friends, CSU congratulates you for pursuing this career, this activity, and develop in you the ambition to go further and perform your role as builders of the nation," Dr. Cabalbag said.

This year's NSTP Graduation Ceremony bannered the theme, "Empowering Communities through Service and Unity." The said program, established by the Philippine government on July 23, 2001, under Republic Act 9163, is a civic education and defense preparedness program for students.

NEWS | CSU Aparri clinches spots in Universityโ€™s 2024 Search for Best Undergrad Thesis

Student researchers from Cagayan State University Aparri Campus won top spots in the recently concluded 2024 University Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis, at CSU Andrews yesterday, June 20.

Donica Lorenzo, from the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) champed in Experimental Category after presenting her groupโ€™s thesis titled โ€œPotential Antibacterial Use of Selected Seaweed Species Against Aquaculture Pathogens.โ€ Lorenzo worked with Joefrey Usigan and R Jay Tuppil to finish the study, under the advisership of Dr. Emma Ballad and Maโ€™am Glycinea de Peralta.

Meanwhile, Christian Elaurza from the College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) clinched 2nd place in Technological Category with his teamโ€™s study titled, โ€œSafe Waters: Enhancing Security and Safety for Aparri, Cagayan Fishermen through Web-based GPS Vessel Trackingโ€. He worked with Maridee Basilio, and Marc Andrew Arce in accomplishing the study and was mentored by Dr. Billy Javier.

For the Social Science Category, Mark Joseph Tintero placed third after presenting his study on โ€œAI as a system: Quality of QuillBot-assisted written discourse of Teacher Education Studentsโ€, who worked together with Bryan Butial, Jovanie Bravo, Marla Malazzab, Amie Columna, Wendylyn Villon, and Jessica Gaspar for the accomplishment of the study under the mentorship of Dr. Mark John Tamanu.

Meanwhile, the student researchers received certificates and cash prizes amounting to P5,000 for the first place, P3,000 for the second place, and P2,000 for the third place, respectively.
