Come stroll down East Helena’s Main Street on
December 5th from 5:30-8:30!
Arts and Crafts! Kids activities tent in Main Street Park! Performances at Radley Elementary! Free entertainment in the City Hall gym. Basket and Christmas tree Raffle! Refreshments served at Main Street businesses! Caroling, food trucks, and much more! Maybe a visit from Santa Claus?

There will be buses running to take people to and from the stroll, and bus stops will be posted prior to the stroll.

East Helena is having our 19th “Fright Night” this year on October 31, from 5-7. Businesses on Main Street will be open for all of our wonderful trick or treaters. There will also be a “Trunk R’ Treat”. Then at dusk J4 Automotive will be playing their annual movie in the park with popcorn, hot chocolate, and delicious apple cider!! This year’s movie will be Coco!! Make sure to bring some blankets to snuggle up with while we all enjoy this years Fright Night!

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ~ First 6 homes in East Helena!
These six new homes are move-in ready for East Helena families after a dedication ceremony was held by Helena Area Habitat for Humanity on August 22, 2024. Over the past year, volunteers spent 5,000 hours, and the Mutual Self-Help home builders spent 2,600 hours working on these homes, and participants worked as a group to build their own homes. Some families started moving in right after the ceremony on Thursday. Keys were handed over to six new homeowners in the Highland Meadows neighborhood of East Helena directly following the dedication ceremony. Habitat for Humanity has officially landed in East Helena!

NEW SIDEWALKS FOR EAST HELENA!
These photos show the construction of a new sidewalk along the full length of Lewis Street, from Montana Ave./Valley Drive (Prickly Pear Elementary School) to Kalispell Ave. (East Valley Middle School). Estimated completion of the sidewalk is August 25 . This project will help keep the many students, pedestrians, joggers, and dog-walkers who use Lewis Street safe from street traffic, which has increased significantly in recent years. Residents will no longer need to walk in the middle of the street!

For the past year I have been experimenting with “Artificial Intelligence” imaging software. Here is my first “real-world” application of this tech: I used 7 aerial photos from high above East Helena which clearly show the massive and ugly slag pile from the many years of smelting lead at ASARCO. My project shows the same aerial views but with the slag removed and the ranch and farmland restored to what it might have been before the slag pile. See it here: www.pricklypearjunction.com
