We're ecstatic to announce our partnership with to celebrate with our campaign. This month we are celebrating the often forgotten hero, the Black Father. We will be sharing the stories of a few fathers who are dedicated to their families and doing influential things in their community. Yes, and some of them have a thing or two for sneakers! We teamed up with Footlocker Canada to help a few fathers "Feel Like a Kid, Again", and thank them for being positive role models, pushing forward for their children and the next generation of fathers to come.

Episode 1, - an actor, director, producer and Father of 2 from the GTA. Troy is a man of God and dedicates his time to his family and to building his production company to help tell stories by black voices. He was never a big sneakerhead growing up, but things may have just changed.

This tho!!! Shout out to my wife for getting this for me! As a kid I used to tape the Simpson’s and pause it frame by frame to draw every one of the characters. This means a lot 😁🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

I used to be a pretty decent player and I’m still a major fan. But, my basketball career came to a really odd and life changing halt when my teachers went on strike and I lost my final high-school season. All those years of hard work just snatched from me. After a lot of thought and sleepless nights I ended up going to University and playing on a team I really wasn’t passionate about, which resulted in me quitting the team and walking away from the game I love after my first year there. But, it was there I also ended up finding my passion in the arts and ended up getting an academic scholarship vs the athletic one I had been chasing all those years.

That being said, I never planned to push sports on my son for that reason, even though I secretly wished he'd be into basketball lol! But, then it happened... he started dribbling a ball, then passing, then shooting on his home net. Then wanting to go to the court and practice his dribbling. Can't even lie, I love it! But, as much as I love it, if he chooses to put down the ball and pick something else up I’m ok with that too.

I often hear conversations of parents trying to push their kids to live out their dreams. I may have even been guilty of it at one time myself, but I think it’s important to let your kids identify what they are passionate about - find their path and then help create the best opportunities for them to excel in what they want to do. And if that aligns with your dreams then amazing, if not, still amazing… Just a parenting thought that this photo brought out in me - I know how many years I put into ball. The invaluable lessons and work ethic I got out of it and the streets it saved me from. Seeing this photo made me happy, but made me think about how much pressure I want to put on him to be great at basketball. At least at an early age. For now I just want him to have fun and experience becoming better at something.

As a Father these moments are precious, so glad my wife captured this - I’ll tell ya, if he does choose to play ball, somewhere down the line I’ll have proof of where he got his handles from! Ayyyyeeeee!

Shout out to the brother for this amazing piece. I’ve often stared at my son sleeping and wondering what in the world he is dreaming about. Great interpretation from a talented artist. 💪🏽

Repost “If I have a monument in this world, it is my son.” - Maya Angelou. This quote resonated with Curtis Talwst Santiago as he drew ‘Boogie Nights’, the newest Creative Time comic. In this piece, he depicts an intimate yet familiar parental scene as he watches his newborn sleeping and wonders what he is dreaming about.

The Canadian-Trinidadian artist’s practice involves mixed-media miniatures, drawings using a mix of graphite with paint, charcoal, pastel, and aerosol paint, as well as performance. Santiago studied as an apprentice of Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun. He has exhibited internationally at venues such as The Drawing Center, New York, NY; The FLAG Art Foundation, New York, NY; The New Museum, New York, NY; The Pérez Art Museum Miami, Miami, FL; Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada; and the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, GA, among others. Considering himself decentralized, Santiago is currently living and working in Munich, Germany.
