En el centro de la helada de Siberia se encuentra una maravilla mística llamada Baikal Zen. Aquí, en la superficie vítrea del lago Baikal, las piedras desafían la gravedad, equilibrándose sobre esbeltos pilares de hielo, que recuerdan a las serenas pilas de piedra de los jardines japoneses.

Estas rocas, aparentemente suspendidas en el aire sobre el agua, cuyo equilibrio es el resultado de el frío siberiano y los vientos del lago. Las piedras primero se fusionan con el hielo, una tarea que se logra fácilmente en el helado clima de Siberia. Luego , las ráfagas tallan el hielo en delicados pedestales, asegurando que las rocas alcancen su postura equilibrada.

This copper silicate hydroxide mineral with the chemical formula Cu5(SiO3)4(OH)2. is SHATTUCKITE.

Shattuckite is a relatively rare secondary mineral that forms in the oxidation zone of copper ore deposits, where copper rich solutions interact with surrounding rock formations.

Over a long period of time, these interactions lead to the formation of a beautiful mineral with its distinctive color * and unique crystal structure.

* Most often dark blue, light blue and turquoise

Shattuckite usually occurs as a granular massive or fibrous acicular crystals.

Shattuckite was first discovered in 1915 in the copper mines of Bisbee, Arizona, specifically the Shattuck Mine.

It is close to plancheite in structure and appearance.

Treiman and Semprich describe a centimeter-sized fragment of dunite, the first recognized fragment of Moon mantle material, in the lunar highlands breccia meteorite

Northwest Africa. From electron microscope data on dunite, they derive inferences about the bulk composition of the lunar mantle, processes related to the Lunar Magma Ocean and gravitational overturn of its cumulate rocks, and the present-day thermal structure of the Moon's mantle.

A Dust Jet from the Surface of Comet 67P | Where do comet tails come from? There are no obvious places on the nuclei of comets from which the jets that create comet tails emanate. In 2016, though, ESA's Rosetta spacecraft not only imaged a jet emerging from Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, but flew right through it. Featured is a telling picture showing a bright plume emerging from a small circular dip bounded on one side by a 10-meter high wall. Analyses of Rosetta data show that the jet was composed of both dust and water-ice. The rugged but otherwise unremarkable terrain indicates that something likely happened far under the porous surface to create the plume. Venus' nightside in the IR (false color for studying the atmosphere). This image was captured by the Japanese AKATSUKI spacecraft back in September 2016. On the nightside, the spacecraft observed infrared light coming from the lower atmosphere through clouds. The shadow of the clouds can also be seen in the image.
