This is an enormously sad day for music, recording and fans all around the world who love his records. Steve Albini was one of the best, arguably the best in some circles at what he did. Admittedly outspoken and particular and at the same time influential. He made a major difference in what we all do in this small but unique recording world. So listen to Surfer Rosa, In Utero, The Breeders or a Shellac album today for Steve.

Today would have been John Lennon's 82nd birthday.

John’s impact on our studios is difficult to put into words. All we can say is his voice, his creativity and his humour still live in the hearts and minds of almost everyone who walks into Abbey Road.

As Paul McCartney says, “When I visit, it makes me want to just sit and think, ‘Ah, there’s John doing ‘Girl’…, etc.”

John was a part of over 200 Abbey Road recording sessions whether with The Beatles, Yoko Ono or the Plastic Ono Band. Each one more unique than the last.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family today. RIP.
