The George Ennis Film Festival ( the GEFF) is a unique film festival which features short films from independent film makers. After a 3 year hiatus , the GEFF returns this year at The INN, 943 W. Beech Street, Long Beach on Saturday , April 25th. Short films( maximum length of 10 minutes) can be of any genre. This year, a new category will be introduced. Amateur film makers are encouraged to r

ecreate a well known movie scene . It can be either satire or a dramatic interpretation. This year’s films will be shown on still to be determined dates in April and will culminate with the George Ennis Film Festival finale on Saturday ,April 25th. The GEFF has been called “ Halloween meets the Oscars” and is more well known for its zaniness and film festival spoof than it is for its movies. The finale is well known for its colorful characters, fake celebrity red carpet procession and crazy partying. Winning movies are shown but take a back seat on this day to the sheer ridiculousness that takes place. There is, however, a serious side to the GEFF. It is also a fundraiser for the Long Island Chapter of JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation www.longisland.jdrf.org. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 .
