As humans look to conserve and understand the past, as well as advance into a better future, the preservation of text has played an important role in the attempt to bridge the gap between societies of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

This long-standing relationship between texts as objects, as pieces of history that should be carefully preserved, and as relevant components to the maintainance of society as we know it is the interest of TXT’s 10th edition, fourthcoming September 2023.

Through this exploration of texts across the centuries and how texts continue to change in the 21st century, perhaps we can more fully grasp and appreciate the ways in which text is intrinsically linked to our humanity.

'Corona poems' are written everywhere around the world as a way to connect with each other as poetry often does. These poems describe one's own personal experiences during the pandemic in a subtle yet unique way.

How did you experience the pandemic and living in quarantine?

Send us your submission of a short, free-form piece about how the pandemic has affected you or how you feel about Covid-19 or your thoughts on the current online environment!
It can be about anything (pandemic-related😉)!! In any form (as long as it's +/-200 words😉)!!

'The Dam Has Broken!' first appeared on the Datebook SF online post of 23 April 2020, written by Vanessa Hua.

This academic year has been quite challenging due to Covid, we all had to adjust to a remote teaching/studying environment. Teaching and studying from home has its ups and downs, and we are curious as to how you have been experiencing this.

TXT Magazine is working on a collaborative piece of reflections regarding the online environment of academia. We would love to receive a short, freeform essay (ca. 200 words) about how you managed your studies or work during quarantine.

You can send you short essay to [email protected]

Feel free to send us a DM for quick questions!

Call for papers — TXT Magazine — DEADLINE EXTENSION
TXT Magazine is still accepting submissions!

TXT is the academic journal produced and edited by students of the Book and Digital Media Studies MA program at Leiden University.
Submissions are still open for our eighth issue, THE PANDEMIC PAPERS, set to be released in autumn 2021.

This year we’re focusing on reading, writing, learning, literacy and publishing through the lens of this time of pandemic and quarantine — as well as similar events throughout history.
If you are currently researching or writing something on this subject — whether it be an academic paper or something more alternative, like a short story or video essay — we would be thrilled to receive your contributions by 30 April 2021.
