For vertical shooting, the Rocks arm was CLUTCH. It’s incredibly strong.

Picked up the PME5 metered prism for my Hasselblad 500C/M and it’s been great. Sending off my first rolls of film to see how it metered!

Also, can we all admit that the Peak Design travel tripod needs to be in every single film photographer’s bag.

I’ve owned 3 different 50mm f/1.2 lenses in my life. First was the Canon L version, then the film Canon L39, and now the version. The GM is night and day sharper than my old Canon L. It’s astronomically sharp. In my opinion it has that 3D pop.

Control the light. Read below.

Capture Colour Films and I have known that grip gear is probably the biggest need for our business. While we have scrims and c-stands and other grip gear, large diffusion has been a need. We routinely shoot video content outdoors, and you can always shoot during the early morning or during golden hour. All too often we would have to constantly move our scrims as the sun moves across the sky.

Grip gear is extremely expensive if you want to get the high-quality stuff. Not to mention that over the last year, gear has been backordered like crazy. We recently bit the bullet and invested several thousand dollars into both large and small diffusion, negative fill, and flags. Other than ordering our Sony FX6 cameras right away, it is probably the best purchase we have made.

Pictured here is the 20 x 20‘ butterfly frame from Kupo, and a Matthews diffusion to match. The smaller set is from Matthews Studio Equipment, Inc. and we love it too.

The FX6 has been an amazing camera for myself and over the past year and a half or so. Today I tried out a different monitor from . Not that I was unhappy, but I just want to try something different. It worked out pretty well in the extremely bright sunlight today.

I’ve also been shooting lately a lot with the 150-500mm on the FX6 and with the A7IV for photography. What a stunning lens.

My next change to the FX6 is to try out a V-mount system. I’ll probably be picking up the one from to start.

Last week I used the .lighting 600d Pro for the first time. Holy cow this light is bright. and I were able to use it for outdoor interviews, mid day, at around 50-60% power. Because of that I could use my portable electric battery four hours to power it. I was really surprised by how much brighter this light is.

In the rare moments when I’m not shooting, editing, running a gym, or doing construction on our gym expansion, I love shooting my Hasselblad 500 C/M. Right now I have some Ilford HP5 Plus in it. This camera has been super fun, and I’m having a blast shooting film for the first time.

I enjoy shooting both manual and autofocus on the FX6. There are quirks to both, but both are great.

Today I shot autofocus. Dialing in your settings for AF on the FX6 is super key. I was shooting people and only wanted face AF. Also, there was always multiple people in frame, so learning how to switch to the proper face is key. Long story short, know your gear.
