I read the parable of the talents recently. Jesus tells the story of 3 servants who were given a sum and one buried it- while the others invested their talents and increased them.

It made me consider the times I've buried what I've been given. I buried for multiple reasons:
Fear
Apathy
Lack of inspiration
Laziness
Distraction

But investing what God has given me looks like:
Digging in
Pushing through
Fighting for ideas
Hard work
Focus

Investing = Faithfulness

"To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away."

Happy Monday friends! Today marks the start of week 2 on chatologie of the daily shine! Last week we asked the question, Who is God? And we answered it with scripture. I love Magnolias.

I go on a 3 mile walk in my neighborhood almost every morning. I have a path and routine that is my favorite. I default to that route, I feel comfortable in that rhythm. But every once in a while, I get the urge to change it up.

My neighborhood is pretty unique. It has some beautiful old homes by the lake, as well as some 1960’s Florida style duplexes just 2 streets over, and to be honest I love the character. I love that every little street has hidden jewels and beautifully expressive landscaping. It’s full of the signs of life- and it brings me joy.

Sticking to the same walking path brings me joy as well, but sometimes we need to diverge from the norm to discover something we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. I’m thinking this week how I can look for moments God may be waiting to meet me on a totally different path than my normal one.

Walk a different route.
Roll down your windows.
Have lunch with a friend.
Do an extra lap around the lake.
Take the kids for ice cream after school.

Look for joy in changing it up. God is with you in these moments too.

Today is the first time in 18 years that I haven't done a First Day of School pic. Instead we had a family breakfast before sending Jack back to Liberty tomorrow. 3 kids in college now- who's life is this?

Happy July everybody! ☀️What are you looking forward to this month? Here are my exciting things:
1. Reading through the gospels with everyday. She's reading in the this month! That's exciting!
2. Outdoor walks ☀️
3. 2 work related trips that will also be fun.
4. Spending some intentional down-time with the ministry leaders at our church .
5. Making strides toward my 2023 health goals.
6. Reading a novel all my friends are raving about!

A new adventure.
This guy is spending his summer interning at Champion Forest in Houston. I wish, when I was 22, I had 1/2 the courage, positivity and adventurous spirit of .wav.
I'm so proud of him!

Last week, we had an official goodbye dinner to love this sweet one. You may recognize from her appearances on chatologie or from her co-hosting with me online
When I tell you what she's doing, and why I am saying goodbye- you will want to immediately go and follow her.

She and her husband quit their jobs and are moving their family (3 adorable girls) to Portugal for a year. JUST FOR AN ADVENTURE.

Can you imagine? This woman inspires me in her fun & funky style, her willingness to speak up for the important things, her dedication to her Bible reading streak (she fished her phone out of a port-a-potty to preserve the streak) and now with her spreading her wings and taking flight. Leah, I love you, and I'll be watching every post along the way! You better be back in Orlando in 1 year!! 🍊🧡🍊🧡🍊🧡🍊🧡🍊

Do you chose a word for the year? I have felt this is a good practice for me as I move into a new year. It recenters my focus and my heart. This year, I chosen the word “encouragement” to focus on and I'm excited about it.

I was a cheerleader in highschool, and honestly, it's always been part of my personality. When I love something or someone I LOVE TO CHEER THEM ON. So, this word is not a major stretch for me. But I'm finding it harder to cheer for those who are a little bit of a challenge for me. Know what I mean?

There are people in all of our lives that give us a hard time, pull out the worst in us and reveal some insecurities, if I'm honest. My challenge this year is to encourage them as well as the people that are easy to love. Does this challenge you at all?
