“THEY SAY THEY’RE TARGETING THE JANJAWEED- BUT THEY’RE KILLING US!”
The accompanying video shows heart-breaking scenes of houses levelled to the ground and dead bodies pulled out of the wreckage in Souk Azabat, a densely populated area that is part of Yarmok district, south of Khartoum.
“All these are innocent people. There is not a single RSF amongst them!” said the bereaved commentator, pointing to blood-stained bodies laid in the open, as his camera moved across the wreckage, screening the puzzled faces of the residents.
The Yarmok district resistance committee has confirmed that 17 civilians, including five children, were killed, and 11 injured in the air strikes that targeted the district on Saturday June 17. Twenty five houses were knocked down in the air strikes.
This is just another episode of an evolving tragedy of civilians caught up in the crossfire of a bloody war pitting units loyal to the Islamists in the Sudanese army against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces “RSF”.
Since the beginning of the fighting on April 15, RSF seized control of strategic positions across the capital, including parts of the Army HQ itself, the presidential palace, and the bridges linking the three cities that make up the capital Khartoum. In the face of airstrikes from the army, the RSF infiltrated in great numbers into the residential areas, looting and killing, and driving residents out of their homes.
But those who had nowhere to go had to deal with the double ordeal of the RSF atrocities and the ill-guided airstrikes of the army. With the fighting entering its third month, it is becoming clearer than ever that the army has nothing in store for the RSF other than airstrikes. But many of these are falling on the people’s heads, not on the Janjaweed, as this video and other footage has demonstrated.
A recently circulated video showed Yasir al-Atta, deputy commander in chief of the armed forces offering the residents of Khartoum a strange advice: “If y

The New Poetry of Peace and Optimism in Time of War
Sudanese prominent young poet, Maad Mohammed Shaikhoon would never give in, would retire to despair or pessimism.
He is one of the survivors of the June the 3rd massacre in front of the Army headquarters in khartoum back in 2019.
While he himself was almost killed his call, words and love of his country and people still resonate: “keep an eye on my brothers and sisters in this brutal massacre. Keep an eye on my people and Sudan”.
Echoing the same optimistic tone and message in this poem recited in colloquial Sudanese Arabic-as almost all his poems- he raises high hopes and confidence that we, the Sudanese people are gonna be okay,
This trauma will go,
Peace and love will prevail,
Life will be back to normal,
No matter what

Medical Heroism and Selflessness in Time of war
This video footage is an amazing testimony to unfettered dedication to the medical profession and heroism of our Sudanese doctors and nursing staff. Quality wise the videography might seem so poor due to the extremely exceptional conditions in which it was recorded (in the darkness of night due to a power outage).
But its content and message are very powerful, highly symbolic and inspirational.
It shows a small group of medical staff treating the wounded and the injured in makeshift street clinics amidst heavy indiscriminate shelling, shooting and airstrikes that continue to target innocent civilians and vital civilian infrastructure, mainly power plants, water stations, hospitals, clinics and health care facilities. Doctors, medical personnel and medical equipment and vehicles are all under continuous vicious attacks since the outbreak of war on Saturday April 15th 2023.

High-Profile Sudanese ICC Indictees Threaten to Fuel the Ongoing War in the Country
STC, May 1st 2023
On April 23rd all ICC indictees, including the former president Omer Al-Bashir escaped from Kober Prison in Khartoum North, taking advantage of the rampant chaos caused by the war and the total and sudden collapse of the de facto military coup authorities.
However, some observers believe that most of the chaos and limited military attacks on prisons were intentionally staged by supporters of the former regime who view the current war as their best chance for another comeback to power. According to these observers, the remnants of the former regime’s strategy is to fuel the war and pave the way for return to power by means of violence and spreading unprecedented chaos across the country.
Such analysis strikes a chord with the message delivered via a widely disseminated audio recording by the notorious ICC indictee Ahmed Haroun on April the 25th following his escape from prison. Ahmed Haroun is well known for his brutality and his active role in the Darfur mass killings and horrific atrocities during the years 2003-2005.
In his audio recording, Ahmed Haroun spoke on behalf of his fellow inmates whom he highly praised as the “leaders of the Salvation Revolution” that refers to the former regime.
He glorified them as the saviors of the country and government institution.
Posing as a national hero, he said that given the current situation marked with daunting challenges and rapid developments, they have made their own decision of “going out of prison” and taking responsibility for their “self-defense”. He further explained that they left to a safe heaven guarded by only three corrections officers.
Not recognizing the December revolution of 2018 that caused the final ouster of the former president on April the 11th 2019, he put the blame for their arrest on what he termed as the “April 11th military coup”. Accordingly, he defied the legality of t
