Why "10 Cents"
The company name 10 Cents is a reference to, and a way for us to pay homage to, The Golden Age of Comics, a period in time when comics typically cost only ten cents. The Golden Age of Comic Books was an era in the history of American comic books, generally thought of as lasting from the late 1930s until the late 1940s or early 1950s. During this time, modern comic books were first p
ublished and enjoyed a surge of popularity; the archetype of the superhero was created and defined; and many of the most famous superheroes debuted, among them Superman, Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, and Captain Marvel. The period also saw the emergence of the comic book as a mainstream art form, and the defining moment of the medium's artistic vocabulary and creative conventions by its first generation of writers, artists, and editors. Our goals are to bring comic art of all kinds into the mainstream, raise awareness of the art form, and help the vast pool of talent that reside in Doylestown and the surrounding areas promote and publicize their work. A C.B. East graduate, Krisy Paredes is a freelance writer and publicist who has worked with The Doylestown Bookshop, Honeychurch, Lolly Hopwood/Lolly & YoYo, The Lovin' Oven, The Merchants Group of Doylestown, CBCares, and other local businesses and organizations during the past decade in Doylestown and was also a founding member and Senior publicist for First Friday Doylestown. She currently sits on the board of The Doylestown Business and Community Alliance.
