Unfortunately, most film guides are awash with mediocrity, almost as if authors felt the top prize is presented to whoever writes the biggest tome with the longest reviews. I’ve kept my words to a minimum and my list to a very manageable 150. My commentary is brief as possible because I believe people want to read about films after they watch them not before, but you can click on any poster for a
hyperlink to that film’s Wikipedia. Click the TV image to watch the film’s trailer on Youtube. The other buttons naviagate to the most popular stream and dvd portals, as well as the best review site. This book is designed as a foolproof tool for finding great films fast, especially for youngsters like my kids who haven’t watched a lot of film yet outside the most recent blockbusters. Most guides are skewed toward those recent blockbusters, but I paid little attention to them. Blockbusters often lose luster and tarnish quickly, especially if they’ve been put together with emotional tricks, while a truly great film wll takes viewers on a voyage of discovery and leaves us changed in some profound way. Hopefully, this guide will help people connect with some of those changes.
