If you've got your first media interview - but you're not sure what to expect, this video is for you
Behind the scenes taster at a media interview with KMTV
Top tips;
- 1. Make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare - to avoid feeling rushed or panicked when you go live
- 2. Get to know the host/interviewer, so you can both give them a bit of context about you/your topic/discussion points (where applicable) and to help make the conversation more natural and relaxed
- 3. make sure you get your microphone set up properly, so you can be heard clearly, without your clothing causing rustling etc
- 4. Enjoy it!! Don't try and get everything 'perfect' but rather aim to speak with passion and authentically about the topics you know well and care about
- 5. Thank your producer - they are the ones making it all run smoothly behind the scenes, and may also be the person booking you (for future interviews!)
Bonus; Don't forget to get a selfie for your social!! 😉

If Carlsberg made meeting locations!!..
Awesome to meet with Rebecca Smith to hear about their amazing regenerative, educational, community, hospitality permaculture project
The Yard at Bodsham and Kent School of Food is a social enterprise which will be bringing back to life an old pub in disrepair, and using it as a central space to share local knowledge, provide training opportunities, connect young people with where food comes from, and a market place for locally grown food
There is SO much integrated within this project - it was super inspiring to see just how regenerative business in the future can holistically solve layered problem
Looking forward to seeing how their work develops, and If you're interested I'd definitely recommend giving Rebecca a follow/connection

Who's had this pesky voice in your head stop you?!
Does #CommunicationConstipation feel like this for you?
What if, instead, we could give up the expection of having to get it 'right' and instead embrace 'just giving it a go' and fail, learn, grow
It's far quicker, easier....and more fun!!
And in the spirit of this, I'm playing with this new style of video...what do you think?

"Sometimes we don't believe in ourselves, which is when we need a mentor to believe in us for us, and until we can"
I was recently invited to attend the graduation ceremony of an amazing #mentorship programme run by TUI Care Foundation in Tunisia, as part of their #zerowaste and #socialentrepreneurship initiatives
It was super inspiring, and amazing seeing a huge lecture theatre full of women - who had been empowered to turn social challenges into impactful entrepreneurial opportunities
And it reminded me of the amazing support I've had from my mentor Kim Gowing , through The Kent Foundation
What's been best about Kim's mentoring is how she adapts to exactly where I'm at, and what I need in the moment.
Sometimes its practical, sometimes emotional (we all know how tough it can be at times on your own!) - but always its the safe space to allow me to work out and take ownership for myself of what I need to do next, and most importantly clarifing the values and vision which underly and drive this.
So thank you Kim ☺️
So I'm super excited to see this opportunity being extended to young women in Tunisia and many other countries the TUI Care Foundation support
Good luck ladies and go change the world and kick some social entrepreneurial ass!!

Meet Simone - a passionate #entrepreneur solving #waste #environmental and #social challenges
Personally I find that it's the people who are most inspiring when I visit #grassroots #sustainability initiatives
And it's this passionate #startup mentality which I think is crucial in the #sustainable space ...as we dealing with (relatively) brand new challenges - so we need to be willing to trial and error and embrace failure if we want to create the #innovative #solutions we need now more than ever
I also was to give a big shout-out to Simone for doing this interview in English - not his native language (and we all know how tough it can be the share our ideas ....now just imagine doing it in another language!!) So BIG respect Simone 🙏🙌🥳🏅
It was a pleasure to visit the Indinya workshop as part of the TUI Care Foundation Destination Zero Waste programme, on behalf of Globetrotter Television
#sustainabletravel #interview #startuplife #zerowaste #tunisia #circulareconomy #recycle
What if we're making things more complicated than they need to be..
..and actually the beauty of good solutions could be their simplicity
Attending the Indinya #circulareconomy workshop, as part of the Destination #ZeroWaste #Tunisia programme - what struck me was (in a good way) how it didn't need to be technologically groundbreaking to work!
And simple things are more accessible, transferable, and actionable! Which is what it's all about!
Yet what certainly wasn't lacking was the passion and enthusiasm from the founder and young team - for both the opportunity for #greencareers as well as for #socialentrepreneuership to address some of the challenges they face in TUNISIA
Thank you to TUI Care Foundation - who spearheaded this #waste reduction #sustainabletravel programme. It's wonderful to see the work you're doing around the world to triage holistic #eco #social and #economic challenges
The trip was for a piece for Globetrotter Television Magazine - which will be out early next month

It's passionate people like this who ultimately make BIG change happen in their community!
It was such a pleasure and inspiration to meet the badass social entrepreneur Leila - who runs the Dar Ben-Gacem boutique hotel
My 'why' has always been about helping people share their ideas, and as a result make the positive changes they want to see in the world.
...but someone like Leila really doesn't need any help!!...she's blazing a way for business to be a force for good in TUNISIA (where currently social enterprises and cooperatives aren't currently recognized as legal entities...but that's not stopped her!)
At times in the past Ive felt embarrassed to express the full extent of my passion for the things im excitement about (and I've spoken to many who feel the similar)...
[What is this all about hey? Is it a hangover from school where we want to fit in? And being really into something friends aren't makes you weird? Or is it because, as per recent discussed - that often sharing our hopes and dreams is more scary and vulnerable than sharing our challenges??]
...But Leila reminded me that being unashamedly excited, passionate, and optimistic that change can and is happening is a gift and strength, and is a joy and contagious to be around
And this is just Day 1 of the Destination Zero Waste Tunisia with TUI Care Foundation for Globetrotter Television - so I can wait to see what (and who!) is in store for the rest of the trip!! 😎🤗

Welcome to Day1 of Zero Waste Tunisia!
So excited to be invited by TUI Care Foundation , for Globetrotter Television magazine, to find out more about their work with local communities to introduce opportunities within the circular economy; for both environmental, social and economic benefit
It's Day 1, I've just arrived, and I HAD to show you the amazing detail of this social enterprise hotel - the Dar Ben-Gacem !!

A #Bike Vs A #Car?!?....
I couldn't let #BikeWeek pass without resharing the highlights from the 'Handlebars Vs Cars' project!! 😂
This was a challenge campaign Ashford Borough Council set me last year...
.. in which I raced a British Rallycross Driver Tristan Ovenden - in a brand new #EV car - across Ashford during morning rush hour
... me on a run of the bill basic city bike!! And all live streamed online, thanks to the help of MMS 360 MEDIA
This was such a fun campaign to work on, and i loved how, by taking a 'Top Gear style' approach, we were able to make behaviour change messages far more engaging and exciting for social media audiences
Big shout-out to Claire Norman and @sophie walker for ABC for being so up for doing something different, dynamic and fun.

I'm Liu (pronounced 'Lee-you') and I'm a presenter, video producer and media coach
I specialise in Sustainability video campaigns for social media - especially fun, unusual challenges!
What preconceptions do you have about electric bikes?
When I asked people, a number said 'oh well it's a bit lazy isn't it?!
And I'll be honest...it had crossed my mind too! (I've got a sporty reputation to uphold after all!! 🤣😜 Haha)
HOWEVER after having a go myself - I can honestly say I really don't think it's about whether it's 'lazy' or not (as if everything has to be a competition or 'earning your stripes!!!)
Because for me at least, in an everyday setting - cycling is about being functional.
For this videos, the Kent County Council Active Travel, Kent Cycle Training team, Kent Connected and Explore Kent challenged my to give it a try for my commute to work (and still turn up respectable for meeting!!)
What I liked was that the E-bikes for a commute really provided that good balance between getting a bit of light exercise, but not so much I ended up sweaty and stinky!!
....and for those days I'm feeling extra 'sporty' - I can always just turn the power off! Best of both worlds
It's #Bikeweek this week, and KCC are offering 50% discount on all their adult training courses. So if you've been thinking about getting into cycling (electric or regular) but need a bit of confidence, check out the details in the end of the video

It's Bike Week! So I'm excited to share recent collaboration with Kent County Council Active Travel, Kent Cycle Training, Kent Connected and Explore Kent
Every time I work on a cycling campaign I'm reminded how ridiculously multi beneficial cycling is!!
...and when you add in the benefits of an electric bike (you should have heard the "wwooooooooo" sound l made when I first hit the electric assist button!!)
...which also equals not having to arrive at work all sweaty and red!!
...it's a pleasure to then support them in helping more people gain the confidence and skills through their adult cycle training.
And what's nice about the electric bike option, is it can help you feel more confident cycling on the road, as you have that extra power when needed to get yourself through junctions and out of any situations you feel uncomfortable
KCC Kent Cycle Training are currently offering a massive 50% discount on their adult training courses (both electric and normal bike) via the code/link at the end of the video

What great environmental documentary films have you seen?
Please hit me up with your suggestions of films that have inspired, impacted, moved, educated you
I've been invited by KMTV onto their film club programme, to talk about eco docs
...and I thought it would be a great opportunity to share the love, and open it out as a wider discussion
Plus, I'd love to include a broader insight/review including other people's comments in the programme too
If there is enough interest, maybe we could even have a lil watch party? (Be it virtual or IRL)
So what eco docs have you enjoyed?
OR what film have you considered or been meaning to watch, but would love to hear others options before committing?
(I'm conscious of whether certain films, especially more specialist ones, will be accessible - so pleased include where/how to watch and related costs)
Thank you facebook-land!

Would love your thoughts and experiences please...
What is missing in the Sustainablilty space to enable;
- a) Eco Projects/Champions to be able to effectively spotlight their solutions? (At every level; grassroots community, startup and SMEs)
- b) What do the general public need to engage with events/initiatives/discussions (both those already 'engaged' and those who are interested but 'on the edge'/unsure)
I ask because I'm exploring what Version 2.0 of the Sustainable Futures Forum looks like - based in what is needed and what people want
My initial thoughts are;
-1) instead of one big event, a series of smaller events (to increase both accessibility and long term relationship development) - focused on discussion/sharing as opposed to 'learning'
- 2) instead of one longer, more involved and application based coaching program (designed to help aspiring eco champs to be able to effectively share their ideas/projects), instead 'drop in workshops'
- 3) whether to focus on a) more confidence building and message development OR b) tangible video creation/output (but wondering whether participants will have the confidence to do this, without the a) coaching element?)
But I'm also very open to alternative ideas, views, challenges and opportunities.
So;
- What stops people engaging with free events and support?
- whats that thing that making it 'worth your while' to attend something?
- What is there too much of already?
- What is there not enough of?
- what are the emerging trends (positive and negative) of the industry?
- what's the balance (and cross overs) between community, business, and individuals?
Love to hear your thoughts
Thank you
😍❤️

News presenter mode: Activated!
Two things that were interesting and fun about this shoot for Nutri-San ;
👉 Designing the script and style to take into account the cultural differences of the Asian audience; who would expect a more formal presentation and be impressed by credentials and status.
However this still needed to be balanced with something which was authentic for the brand and their more down to earth style
👉 Quick turnaround meant we weren't going to have time for amends, therefore working very collaboratively with the client Michelle we were able to tweak as we go.
I love working in this very close collaborative way with the client - having them on site for scripting, filming and editing (as opposed to 'keeping them at a distance ' which is common for video production).
It allows me to combine the coaching element of my work with the production - which ultimately means a FAR better output, as the video actually says what they want to say!!
..Because it's very common for many for it to be hard to know exactly what they want to say untill they see/hear it ...and so this process helps them work out out 'in action ' ...but, without hindering or delaying (and in fact improving) the production process.
Going forward I'll be working in this way much more; having the client be a much more integrated and collaborative part of the process - making it more fun, effective, and reliable outcome for everyone

Advice please; the best Green Banks UK
....Specifically from a customer experience and usability point of view (as well as obviously their green credentials)
Also, is there anything to be aware of when switching? ie. is it true it's good to keep your old bank account open, with no money in, as its good for your credit score?
Keen to hear people thoughts and first hand experiences - beyond the comparison graphs and charts I can search for online
This action to switch to a more sustainable bank has been promoted by my participation and committed action as part of Impact Amplified 's 1day Ignite: Carbon programme (which includes UN-approved Carbon Literacy Training certification)
They've got a couple more sessions left before the summer break and so if you're interested give Olivia and Layla a shout

When you see someone's full passion come through - this is what makes a great speaker we love to watch
And I was lucky enough to see this come to life today - in our final rehearsal session with the grassroots eco champions speaking at Wed's Green Impact Forum
Because it not just about the 'right words'; it's about remembering why you're saying those words, what you want them to stir in others, including - first and foremost - yourself, so you can connect with your audience
This is going to be such an awesome event from Kent Community Foundation - bringing together the voluntary and charitable sector to share ideas, stories and knowledge for how they can bring sustainability into their existing community and social work
