A little about FSR...
What we’re trying to do with this idea called Flower Sun Rain is to take the carefree attitude of the artist and copy/paste it into the unchanging framework of the record industry. Record labels, on the other hand, want to make money. It’s all about whether or not said artist will be good for the scene and how to make said artist as marketable as possible. Don’t get me wrong
. There’s a group of labels out there that do do the right thing, and we want to become part of that group. Our niche is happy, noisy music, and our goal is to promote and break even. We look mostly for artists in the San Diego area, more specifically La Jolla. Feel free to send us a link to one of your songs if you think we would be interested. Details
All our artists retain full rights to their music. They can choose to submit a prerecorded work or record in our studio which is located in the KSDT radio station at UCSD. Studio time is only $10 per hour and printing the finished work is free. No LPs - works must be between 10-24 minutes and are burned onto miniCD with glossy sleeve and booklet. They are then sold for $8 a pop with $5 going to the artist. Note that all music will also be available online for free. Flower Sun Rain will take care of getting you into the local and online press. We will also host concerts grouping together artists on our label. Profits from the concerts will be split evenly between all the bands.
