Birds Of Yamuna Floodplains The river is home to thousands of resident as well as migratory birds. Over 300 bird species has been recorded from the Yamuna Floodplains lying in NCR region.

Yamuna Floodplains popularly known as “Yamuna Khadar” consisting of wetlands, sandbanks, reeds, shrubs and forests supports a wide variety of plant and animal species and are vibrant with biodiversity. The areas which are currently visited by birders from all over the city are floodplains upstream of Wazirabad, Yamuna Biodiversity Park Phase-1 & 2, Garhi Mandu Forest, forest and floodplains adjoin

ing the Akshardham Temple and Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Recently, Manjhawali Village lying on floodplains in Faridabad district has thrown surprising sightings and is under watch from the birders. Through this page we aim to document distribution and abundance of birds visiting or residing on floodplains from year 2016 onwards and bring out details of unexplored birding areas situated along the river stretch passing through NCR.
