I spent time in New York City in 1985 armed with a Leica R4 camera and a 24mm f2.8 Elmarit and Summicron 90mm F2 leness. This is one of five favourite images captured during my spare time working at a Technicolor Labs edit room, editing two TV commercials for the South African to***co group, Rembrant. I still have this image framed on the wall of my editing room in Perth Australia, 39 years later.

For this one I left my hotel on W23rd street and walked south, all the way to The Battery, and back. At the time I thought this was art of John Lennon who was murdered in New York five years earlier.

This is Grasplatz near the town of Luderitz in Namibia lies the Sperrgebiet, a forbidden area where they say diamonds lie around like shells on a beach. Free access to this area would result in the international diamond crashing over night. So it is guarded, protected and forbidden. This railway station once (early 20th Century) served the line running to Luderitz on the Atlantic coast, the town's main link with the world.
