Hear Romania Hear Romania is a civic initiative raising international awareness about the latest democratic shortfalls in Romania.

The latest turmoil on the Romanian political scene triggered a needed public backlash against the antidemocratic conduct of the Coalition in power. Hear Romania’s objective is to call to action European citizens, civic activists, watchdog journalists and organisations in order to denounce the recent democratic shortfalls in Romania. Hear Romania is a form of protest which aims to enable Romanian c

ivic discontents to be voiced out at a European level. This course of action is based on the belief that external pressure is vital in protecting the Romanian democratic institutions against increasing political abuse and discrediting. We take attitude against:
• The undermining of democratic principles and the institutions of the rule of law.
• The abusive and antidemocratic conduct of the Coalition in power.
• Corruption and the subjugation of public institutions to political parties’ interests.
• Politicians’ disdain at abiding by law.
• The infringement into the supremacy of the Constitution and the separation of powers.
• The attacks on the independence of justice.
