Statement of Purpose
This is the first issue of an exciting new Winnipeg paper. The Winnipeg Ethnic News wants to be voice of all of the many ethnic groups in Winnipeg. In recent years there has been an influx of tens of thousands of newcomers into the city from all over the world -Aboriginals, Filipinos, Latinos, Muslims, Hindus, and Africans. The economic life and cultural mix of the city has been made over right in front of our eyes. These emigrants have changed Winnipeg big time. Winnipeg is a far livelier and more interesting place to live-people, food, music and entertainment. We are publishing this new paper in hopes of becoming the voice of the new citizens of Winnipeg. We intend to print stories about the concerns of the new communities but also about their restaurants , stores, music, hangouts, as well as stories about the life and politics of the city.
