I had the honor to travel to Honduras in 2019 to learn about the root causes of migration and meet amazing communities, organizers, and journalists who continue to advocate for human and environmental rights, in the face of massive adversity.
In July, I'm going back to Honduras with Jose Artiga and the SHARE Foundation to make a video about the "VAMOS A LA MILPA' campaign.
In the midst of all the 'bad news' we see/hear about Honduras, this campaign is the opposite...it's Honduran communities lifting each other up by re-igniting ancestral traditions of planting the land and obtaining food security by growing their own food, on their own land. This shouldn't be a revolutionary concept. However, in the midst of a pandemic, two massive hurricanes, and a system that makes food prices unobtainable for many, hunger is real in Honduras.
We just launched a GoFundMe to send myself and Orlando Torres to Honduras in early July to film for 10 days, then return to the U.S. to edit/finish the piece and deliver to the organizations that are building up the 'VAMOS A LA MILPA' campaign: https://gofund.me/66b4776b
Please help us tell this story of hope that we so rarely hear from Honduras, and pass this campaign on to anyone that may be interested in environmental issues, root causes of migration, Central America, or immigration issues.

Dreams do come true...
We’ve reached our @kickstarter fundraising goal! THANK YOU to all our backers for your generosity. Our film will soon become reality. #SanctuaryRising #iNationMedia
An ally and supporter told me today that "Faith and fundraising go hand in hand." This, by all accounts is definitely true, but faith and social justice filmmaking are also integrally linked.
Along every step of this journey the process has been the product of faith. Faith that this story will resonate with communities, that people will listen to, watch, and truly connect with the stories of these two incredible women. Faith that the film will move communities to action and to walk in solidarity with immigrant communities with more passion and dedication than ever before.
And yes, faith that funding will arrive to make the film a reality.
Today is the last day of our @kickstarter
Campaign and we are so close! Please consider backing out film to help make it a reality. These stories need to be told.

Ingrid recently gave birth in the church she’s been living in sanctuary. She gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl! Our congratulations go out to her.
Here is some footage from her baby shower celebration at the church with congregation members and allies.
What many may take for granted becomes such a luxury when you are living within confines of a church. Learn more about Ingrid’s incredible story and about the #sanctuarymovement through our film.

"What does it mean to be a first-world Christian when we have people from the third-world running for their lives towards us? What are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to close the doors? Are we supposed to build higher walls? Or are we supposed to welcome them in and say 'we're here with you. We don't know what life looks like together, but we're going to figure it out together.'?"

Ingrid Welcome
Ingrid is an undocumented mother of three children. She has been confined to living inside a church to protect her family from separation and deportation by ICE. We’ve been following her story for a few years now and we need to raise funds to finish telling her story. Here is a message directly from her and her boys! Will you join the #SanctuaryRevolution?
