Currently based in the United Kingdom, Sankari Mridha, intends to promote the dance form of Bharatanatyam. Apart from performing in the UK, she has been regularly performing in India and other Asian countries like Bangladesh etc.

She adds, "I had not started learning dance until I got married. It was in 2000 that my interest in dance began during my stay in Botswana, where I had started learning Indian folk dance and the basics of Bharatanatyam. On returning to India, I started my proper training in this classical dance form, under Jayalakshmi Eshwar at the Triveni Kala Sangam. All the while being a yoga and dance teacher at JM International School in Delhi. I am also trained in ballet, intermediate level in jazz and have a senior diploma in kathak. In 2013, when I moved to Bangladesh, I started performing regularly and took up a job as bharatnatyam teacher at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre and started teaching both Indian and expatriate students residing in Bangladesh. My students have performed in events hosted by the High Commission of India in Dhaka as well as in the programmes organised by the government of Bangladesh."

In the UK, Sankari claims to have performed on 1000 plus shows throughout London, Birmingham, Newcastle and many other cities. "I was a part of several touring groups, which toured all around the UK and performed for large cluster groups of people. I also take up several workshops in various schools. It brings me immense joy and happiness for getting the opportunity to give classical dance to people and spread awareness about India and her rich culture which is unique. I am currently under the guidance and mentorship of a South Asian dancer and choreographer. As we celebrated the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas just last week, as an Indian I feel proud to propagate Bharatnatyam in a foreign land and spread the dance form to the next generation among the people in the UK and in South Asian countries like Bangladesh. My compassion for people and passion for dance keeps me alive," says Sankari, who has received Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre Award from Bangladesh and British Council ISA Award from JM International.
