UPDATE: Unfortunately Jake Eccleston posting 2:13.50 in the 200m Breaststoke wasn’t quite fast enough with No. 16 posting 2:12.02. But being a literal baby in the event I’m guessing his skills will only continue to develop at Louisville. Was a blast to watch.

Jake Eccleston, a senior from Windsor in CO, first in Heat 2 in the USOlympic Trials. His father, Andy, a 1993 Anaconda grad, and mother, Katie, both graduated from UofMontana. His swimming chops no doubt came from Andy putting docks in at Georgetown Lake! Waiting game now for advancement … Top 16 move into semifinals Tuesday night.

A cool little extension of Copperhead Pride in the biggest way tomorrow AM. Jake Eccleston, the son of Andy, AHS grad from 1993, and Katie Eccleston from Colorado, will swim in the Olympic Qualifying prelims in the 200m Breaststroke. What’s most impressive is Jake qualifying as a high school senior. Both parents graduated from University of Montana as well. Follow the live streaming link below. Preliminary heats begin at 9am MST. Every year the most talented players in Montana are selected to the East West Shrine Game. But what's also great is the selection for the cheer teams. These individuals are as respected by their schools and community and are honored with selection to the game. This year, Anaconda senior Ava Walker made the cut and will cheer for the West. It's official. Anaconda's Makena Patrick has signed her LOI to play for Peninsula College in Washington State. At the state tournament in her senior season, Patrick became the fourth girl in Anaconda High history to score 1,000 points. She follows in the footsteps of both her parents, Kevin and Tiffany, who also played basketball at Peninsula. Congrats Makena and thank you for all the wonderful memories!!

Florence sweeps the doubleheader in Anaconda, winning 17-2 in G2 preceded by a 13-1 win to kick things off.
Anaconda was led by McKayla McKelvy and Taryn Coughlin each with RBI singles in the first.

Final in Anaconda: Florence 13, Anaconda 1 in the fifth. Florence’s Ava Philbrick with a huge game, going 3-4 with three legs of the cycle including a 2-run homer, 3-run triple and single.

Copperheads had two hits with Grace Mehrens and Taryn Coughlin each with singles.

Having a day to reflect and put it all in perspective about Braxton Hill …

His senior year during the first play of his second game, his left shoulder gets ripped to shreds. With no possibility of making the playoffs, he comes back the final two games to play QB with a harness and was not allowed to play defense (although he wanted to). A few months later, he broke the school scoring record in basketball, passing the late Ed Kalafat along with so many other Anaconda legends.

He wasn’t recruited by Bob Stitt at UM or Jeff Choate at MSU, but when Bobby Hauck was hired in January of Braxton’s senior year, defensive coach Barry Sacks watched him play hoops twice - enough to offer him a walk-on, gray shirt in order to fully rehab his shoulder with the hopes he could eventually play.

He went from gray shirt to forfeiting his red shirt, playing special teams his freshman year to eventually earning all Big Sky honors at linebacker.

This Anaconda boy left a week after the national championship to prepare for yesterday’s NFL Pro Day, and in my opinion, did enough to earn himself at least a free agent deal as the Draft gets closer.

The kid nobody wanted will have a chance to play in the NFL. And while that chance for so many is minuscule when you compare the amount of players who actually are talented and driven enough to find themselves on an NFL roster, are you going to count him out?

The outpouring of support from Anaconda continues to grow. Braxton is so much more than just a football player. The kids in Anaconda love him, waited for him after every game for pictures and signatures, and now may get a chance to actually wear a professional jersey with his name on it??

I, like so many, can’t wait to see what the future holds for Braxton. Great job yesterday big guy and all the best moving closer to your dream of playing professional football!!
