ICYM Yesterday's post - Here is a Thanksgiving treat for you fans of The Big 610 KFRC! Click on the link and watch this video of when Ch. 20 in San Francisco KTZO (now KOFY-TV) simulcast Dr. Don's show on the morning of November 30, 1982. KFRC had the mobile studio rolled up to the studios of Ch. 20, broadcasted from their parking lot, and Ch. 20 had their cameras rolling. You'll see the good Doctor talking to his enginner George Zema, during the songs and commericals, and this all gave Bay Area viewers a peak behind the scenes of a live radio show. (Note the hand cues and the chemistry between DDR and George Zema)

Big 610 KFRC Alumni Laurie Kaye has written her memoir!!
"Rock 'n' Roll Name-Dropper" is the story of Laurie's life and all the people she interviewed that shaped rock music: Paul McCartney George Harrison Grace Slick Mick Jaggernd more!

610 KFRC listeners and fans know that Laurie was on the team (which included Dave SholinRon Hummel, and Bert Keane) that interviewed John Lennon, which turned out to be the music icon’s last.

Click the link below to read about Laurie's memoir, and how you can pre-order to add to your music and radio collection. Plus a must have for any fans of The Beatles

My website is for my memoir, Confessions of a Rock 'n' Roll Name-Dropper, which is my music-related early life story wrapped around what tragically turned out to be John Lennon's final interview, which I co-conducted on December 8, 1980 for RKO Radio - sadly also Lennon's last day on the planet.

INCYI - this Big 610 KFRC fan page, previous post - For those not aware, Classic Hits KFRC.com is no more.

It's been replaced by Audacy's 60's channel. Bay Area engineer, Chuck Bullett made the announcement as a comment a few weeks ago:
"I do have a sad announcement - Some of you may know that for many years the 610 format has lived on, on KFRC 106.9 HD2 San Francisco, with Tim Jordan scheduling the hits daily. Audacy never chose to monetize the format and sell spots. Earlier this week we were told the company wants to sunset the format and I am to shut the channel off. This will be happening in the next few weeks. In the meantime Tim will keep scheduling the hits… maybe we can slip some Dr Don and Zema bits in there, or some old Gary Owens air checks…. Though Doubtful…. Tim and I are pretty emotional about it… The channel plays on my boat most weekends. Give it a listen if you can… HD radios aren’t that hard to find these days."

KFRC.com and 106.9 HD2 was set up after 106.9 KFRC-FM dropped their Classic Hits format, and former General Manager Doug Harvill was instrumental in simulcasting 740 AM KCBS on 106.9 FM. This took place on October 27, 2008 at 7:40am.

KFRC.com has been streaming Classic Hits, primarily music from the 1970's, with resung jingles from TM's "You Package" since 2008. This was the last of the spirit of "The Big 610".

It now appears that the only mention of "KFRC" is now at the Legal ID, for KCBS and 106.9 KFRC-FM HD1. (Incidently, Doug Harvill Bay Area Radio Hall of Famer Bay Area Radio Museum & Hall of Fame, was working as Vice President/Genral Manager for Cumulus in 2019, when KFOG-FM went off the air and 104.5 was replaced by a simulcast of KNBR-AM)

Today, this 610 KFRC fan page celebrates Elvis Presley's birthday!!!

There is no question that Elvis changed the way of rock music, fashion, movies and pop culture. His music was played over the years on KFRC - The Big 610 and 99.7 KFRC-FM.

And one KFRC alumni that is a huge Elvis fan, is former Program Director and Air Talent, Dave Sholin. Click on the link and hear some audio of "The Duke", along with Dr. Don Rose, honor Elvis during his 50th birthday in 1985, preceded by some famous "cheap gags", told by the good Doctor.
