Tamawuj is the online publishing platform of Sharjah Biennial 13, organized by Christine Tohme. From January through October 2017, Tamawuj is publishing a continual series of essays, images, videos, experimental writings, fragmentary texts, and other audiovisual materials related to the keywords water, crops, earth, and culinary. Functioning as a site of inquiry and reflection, Tamawuj is working
in close collaboration with the biennial’s four main interlocutors: Kader Attia, Zeynep Oz, Lara Khaldi, and Ashkal Alwan, who are organizing events throughout the year in Dakar, Istanbul, Ramallah, and Beirut, respectively. Working across numerous locations and languages, the ambition is to share research material and at the same time expand upon the biennial’s themes with new contributions, and in dialogue with a wider audience. The editors of Tamawuj are Omar Berrada, Amal Issa, Kaelen Wilson-Goldie, and Brian Kuan Wood. Arabic copyeditor: Youssef Bazzi. Designed by Project Projects, New York.
