We’re Back!!
For those that don’t know the story, our Bone Island Radio studio, sound equipment, computers, music (lots of music!!) as well as our home was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene. We lost just about everything! Besides all of our personal stuff, the computers that we ran the station on as well as the back-up drive and our back-up, back-up drive that contained all of the music played on the station was lost when nearly 5 foot of water invited itself into our home. Loosing the equipment sucked but having all of the CDs we had collected over the year destroyed, many of them signed by the artist at their shows really hurts. Several of the artist have since passed (Jim Morris among others) and cannot be replaced.
But this is not intended to be a sad post. Just the opposite. We are happy to announce that BONE ISLAND RADIO IS BACK!! No, the station hasn’t been silent the last 10+ months. We’ve been running on a ‘cloud’ version of the station. The purpose of the cloud version was to serve as a back-up so the station wouldn’t be silent if we happened to temporarily lose power or internet. The selection of music on the cloud is VERY limited but at least we won’t have “dead air”.
I have begun to replace some of the equipment lost and I am finally back in control of the music being played on the station. Though I am back in control of what is being played, I still have a long way to go. I have begun rebuilding our catalog of music but it’s going to take some time and a lot of work. I apologize in advance if there are some hiccups along the way.
