Episode 13 is out now! In it Pops and I talk about sensitivity among men and women, which of the sexes is more expressive, and how men need positive feedback and to feel appreciated. We also get into *why* men and women express feelings differently and how society conditions us to adhere to emotional stereotypes, even from childhood.⠀

Ep 10: White Dad, Black Daughter, and Conversations About Race is out now!

In this epi, we talk to our guest (L'aigner) about how she navigates difficult conversations about institutional racism and the experiences of black people living in America with her white father who raised her as a single dad. ⠀
⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
We dig into history’s perception of black people in the media and L'aigner shares in detail how the conversations about race with her dad go. Then she touches on her father’s experiences with face-to-face prejudice as a white man who likes dating women of color and questions whether or not she should feel empathy for him and his experiences.

Continuing our latest conversation about race, this week wraps up our interview with L’aigner. In part two of our discussion, we talk about how she navigates difficult conversations about instituti…

We don’t hear a lot about single fathers even though there are plenty of them out there. This week I'm super excited to L'aigner to GTWP! She opens all the way up about her life as a biracial black woman who was raised by her single white father. ⠀
⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
This will be a 2-part interview. In part 1, episode 9, she talks about her relationship with her dad, how he treated her like a Disney princess 👑, and how that relationship influences what she looks for in the men she dates. We also touch on the difficult conversations she's had to have with her father about racism and how she challenges his perspective on police brutality.

The Story Behind Girl Talk With Pops

Girl Talk With Pops is a manifestation of real conversations that Brittney and Todd have had over the years. It has always been very important for Todd to deliver the honest, sometimes painful, but necessary truth to Brittney about men, love, relationships, and the world around her. Once or twice a ladies man himself, he’s had plenty of experiences that he believes Brittney can learn from and he’s not afraid to bare all.

Brittney respects her Pops’ opinions on dating and life and cherishes the very special and vulnerable conversations they have. She’s not afraid to talk to him about anything because she knows that she’ll always receive a blunt, honest, sometimes funny, and loving point of view.

Once she learned that many of her friends didn’t have the same level of conversation with their fathers, it dawned on her how rare these discussions were and she decided to share them with the world. Brittney hopes that the discussions on Girl Talk With Pops will provide other millennial women with a warm and loving point of view that they’ve been missing. And together Brittney and Todd hope to inspire deeper and more meaningful conversations between all fathers and daughters.
