New York City Correction Captain Rebecca Hillman, who walked away from an inmate after he had hanged himself was convicted of criminally negligent homicide on Tuesday. The jury, which deliberated for six hours in Manhattan Criminal Court, rejected Capt. Rebecca Hillman’s defense that no one warned her that the inmate who died, Ryan Wilson, 29, was serious about killing himself when he tied a sheet around his neck on Nov. 22, 2020, and suspended himself from a light fixture at the now-closed Manhattan Detention Complex.

She came out swinging! Correction Captain Rebecca Hillman testified at her Criminally Negligent Homicide trial in the death of inmate Ryan Wilson. She blames the Dept. of Correction for the inmate's su***de saying the Dept forced her back to duty before she was ready. She had been on Bereavement Leave for several months due the murder of a friend. Her attorney calls the DOC "Dysfunctional."

Tuesday in federal court in Brooklyn, former New York City Correction Officer Monica Coaxum pleaded guilty to federal program fraud, admitting she fraudulently obtained her salary from the New York City Department of Correction (DOC) by taking sick leave even though she was able to work.Two others, Eduardo Trinidad and Steven Cange also pleaded guilty. When sentenced, all three defendants face a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment.

Is Norway's Prison System Too Soft?!

Norway's Halden Prison is considered the most humane Prison in the world. Is it fair to have a prison that is like a resort hotel? Is it fair to the victims? Does the punishment fit the crime? I don't think so. I think it's too lenient, especially for murderers and other violent criminals. But what do you think? I would really like to know.
