We are radical free-thinkers here at Parasite (if you couldn't already tell from the company name). We want to create a publishing company that will stand for character work, and ONLY character work. We also believe that this idea--creating a logo that readers will be able to look at and automatically know to be a quality character story--can change everything. We want to take this idea and go up
against the titans... And win. Remember the radical free-thinkers thing? Here's where it really gets interesting. It takes 5% of what comes in to upkeep websites, pay licensing, and keep itself afloat. 10% goes to advertising. The rest goes to the people. (Artists, editors, tech dudes, copyeditors, and of course writers.) Everyone who works at Parasite gets a percentage of Parasite's income. (Not profits, income.) Every writer, every artists, every voice-actor, every editor, every proof-reader... Every one of them gets a percentage of the final product they helped to create. There's no nine-to-fives here (though everyone at Parasite seems to be pulling 14 hour days anyway). There's no drudgery, no errand-monkeys, no cubes, no minions. (Well, maybe we have a few minions, but they're usually of the reader types...) We are all dedicated to producing the finest stories and comics because we're just like you--we squee and go all weak-kneed at a good character, and all of us are willing to try something radically new to face those giants that have, for decades, held publishing in an iron grip. And here's Parasite's biggest difference: Instead of throwing money at corporate shareholders and treating our authors as a resource that can produce X product in Y amount of time for Z amount of capital, we, like our mascot, are all about character. We like people, and we want to make sure they get the most out of what they produce so that they can, gee, support their families and pay their bills. We want to invest in them. We want to help them grow and thrive, and to hone their crafts any way we can. We want to create long-term relationships between everyone who works at our company. Because, ultimately, we are a company about character.
