Storms moving in later tonight! ⚡️🌩

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded portions of northern NE to an enhanced risk of severe storms overnight. We're still expecting storms to move in from the west, most by midnight through 7 am. Wind gusts up to 80 mph will be possible, but some hail will also be possible. It might be a good idea to secure loose outdoor objects if you're in the enhanced risk area before going to bed, and please have a way to receive warnings overnight! We're watching it very close.

Incredible captured on this in northern ! Classic tornadic supercell featuring amazing storm structure, wild cloud rotation, and an extremely photogenic long lived powerful tornado. Multi-vortex, cone, wedge like, this tornado put's it all on display while churning across north Texas! This dusty beast goes down in the books as a classic event near Throckmorton, TX on April, 7th, 2002. The monster Texas twister lasted 16 minutes, tracked 7 miles, and grew to over 3/4 of a mile wide. Fortunately the tornado tracked over mainly open farmland causing limited damage and no injuries. Download and watch the tornado footage to witness the amazing power Mother Nature put on display!

Bonus movie section also included displaying time-lapse views of charged lightning storms, severe thunderstorm structure, and beautiful sunset and mammatus clouds set to cinematic music.

Storms that develop over western South Dakota on Saturday could impact northeast Nebraska late Saturday night.

Current forecast favors them weakening prior to getting here, but if they do make it, damaging winds and hail would be possible.

The best chance for a few severe storms is across northeast NE later tonight. Over southeast NE, there is a much lower chance of storm development late this afternoon into this evening. However, if a storm can develop, the environment will be quite favorable for severe weather.

Severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening in and around the Slight (Yellow) and especially in the Enhanced (Orange) areas. Storms may develop as early as 4pm and spread southeast through the evening hours.

Storms are expected to develop this afternoon and spread southeast through the early evening, mainly in an around the Slight Risk area (yellow on the map). These storms may rapidly become severe and will be capable of very large hail greater than golf balls, damaging wind gusts greater than 60 mph and a few tornadoes.
