I want to bring attention to you an issue that could effect or have effected many of you. Likely, there are many of you who are part of the many local “blast him sis” or “are we dating the same guy” groups. If not, the intention of these groups is to warn other people about abusive and toxic behaviors from previous partners or to find out if their current partner is seeing others.
The intentions of the groups are great and they have and do help people.

However, this post is to WARN people involved in these groups. They are NOT safe. Since the creation of these groups, people within will screenshot and send your messages and comments to the person you are posting about. Abusers will then contact their victims about the posts, etc, etc. This has happened several times.

Let me reassure you, the people running these groups are not detectives, police officers, or have relevant standings in our court systems. Not only do they have no obligation to keep you safe, they CAN’T keep you safe. They may try their best, but they can’t.

Stay or leave, regardless, PLEASE be cautious when commenting or making posts about people in these groups. You should go into it knowing your stuff might be shared with the person you’re posting about. It might not be! But recently, it seems likely that it will. So please be cautious!

Personally, I know that if I were to share a post about my abusive ex and the things that he did, he would physically try to come after me or send someone after me if he found out. He has before and he would again. I couldn’t imagine someone being harmed as a result of information that was shared from these groups.

Below is a list of resources you can use to find out information about people. If you want to know experiences from their other partners, be cautious when posting.

There’s also nothing wrong with a good google search, Facebook search, or looking up phone numbers on Snapchat or cash app. I ALWAYS suggest doing your own research before dating anyone!
