1. DRIVING LICENCE

2. PERMISO DE CIRCULACIÓN and FICHA TÉCNICA

3. ITV CERTIFICATE (MOT) & WINDSCREEN STICKER

✔️ Details - This is required for cars over 4 years old andmust be renewed every 2 years for vehicles up to 10 years old and then annually.

4. INSURANCE

☝️ Purpose - Proof of mandatory vehicle insurance.
✔️ Details - You must have proof of insurance which needs to cover at least third-party liability. It's advisable to keep a copy of the insurance receipt as well.

5. EUROPEAN ACCIDENT FORM

☝️ Purpose - To report any accidents.
✔️ Details - This standardised form is used across Europe and helps in the amicable settlement of accidents.

6. REFLECTIVE JACKETS

☝️ Purpose - For safety in case of breakdown or accident.
✔️ Details - The jacket must be within reach from inside the vehicle (not in the boot).

7. WARNING TRIANGLES / EMERGENCY LIGHT

☝️ Purpose - To alert other drivers in case your vehicle is stopped due to an accident or breakdown.
✔️ Details - Two triangles are required, and they should be placed at a specific distance from the vehicle.
❗ However as of July 2021 the V16 light signal can be used instead or in addition to the triangles, but from 1 Jan 2026 use of the V16 is compulsory and must include a geolocation system connected to DGT 3.0.

8. SPARE TYRE / REPAIR KIT

☝️ Purpose - To replace a flat tyre.
✔️ Details - Includes a jack and wheel brace. Some vehicles may have a repair kit instead.
