I have made a ton of different Valentines in my day but I know two things to be true: having the tags custom-designed / letter pressed by made all👏🏻the👏🏻difference👏🏻 and “Bugs and Kisses” is by far my favorite one to date. My littlest is ecstatic to give his buddies a bag full of Hersheys kisses and plastic bugs!

These are three things I’m loving right now -
1. My new heart vase from PS The Letter that I will pull out every Valentine’s Day! It’s heavy. It’s beautiful. It’s so happy.
2. My vases from our trip to Holland last Spring (plus the fact that tulips are back in stores!).
3. My three Parents magazines. Fun fact: when I was early pregnant with my oldest we had some dear friends in Fairmount give us these Parents magazines that they found at an antique shop. They gave us two brunettes (for my husband) and one blonde (for me). Y’all, they look EXACTLY. LIKE. MY. CHILDREN. Ten years before each of them were born. It gives me goosebumps every time I think about it.

“Where’s me?!?!?” He asks this question about our every time we walk in the house. And you know what? It’s a valid question! At the time of this portrait we were in a different house and only vaguely talking about the idea of adding a third child to our family. He’s now 3.5 years old.

This past December it became time to chat about a new portrait with Gittings now that our family is complete. Over the next few weeks I’ll show you the process of how truly personal yet also simple they make having a forever keepsake portrait taken.

Last night (as a family of five plus the best Nana we know) we listened to a 99 year-old WW2 Veteran (who had been at Iwo Jima) sing the National Anthem while standing proud on the dirt at the . I found myself with not only my one hand on my heart but with two. My kids were the same.

This family-friendly joint had the best space for kids, the greatest food for Dad (he debated the Pork Chop, Chicken Wings, Burger, and Steak), the happiest drinks for Mama (including a Lalo + Grapefruit combo), and the kindest service in town. Located next to and surrounded by TVs, this new spot with an outdoor patio is a must try on your weekend to-do list.

We are standing with and it’s time I told yall more about it! This non-profit is “walking the walk” in Fort Worth. Both Dan and I have sat with their directors as well as local police officers who work hand-in-hand with them to make our city safer.

Act for Justice works with pro bono lawyers and alongside local police officers to eliminate fear, anxiety, and danger from Fort Worth neighborhoods. To put it literally, they shut down drug houses.

Shut. Them. Down.
My past school counselor heart sings every time I hear them describe their mission.

We are co-chairing their event alongside and on April 25th at because we believe in their mission. This event is intended to be an intentional evening of, yes, wining/dining/dancing but also to learn exactly how Act for Justice is changing our city for the better.
