🌿🌿
P L U S a personal health update & announcement this week.🎙️

We are continuing our series
The Thriving Home with this final episode that covers the most important thing we as mothers can do for our homes: to know God and His Word well!

My guest this week is and we talk about many things pertaining to motherhood and ministry but primarily, how to study Gods word and hide it in our hearts through memorization!

Glenna is passionate about seeing women learning well the word of God and walking in His truth. She is the author of several books including Memorizing Scripture: The Basics, Blessings, and Benefits of Meditating on God’s Word.

Often we struggle in motherhood simply because we are not rehearsing what is true and hiding Gods truth in our hearts through scripture memory can help us avoid the pitfalls, those hard moments where we fall so short, especially in patience and joy as we raise our little ones.
Glenna shares her personal story of what propelled her to begin memorizing the Word and then go on to write her first book encouraging other women to do the same.

..”Thats why we celebrate Christmas- because Jesus came to do the unthinkable- to save the undeserving.

Advent season is about awaiting the gift of a Saviour, the One who would wipe out for eternity the due penalty of our sin.
As our family shifts focus to this pivotal moment in history, I pray that our children look always at images of the manger and see God’s kindness first, especially when those closest to them fail to show it.

The pain caused by others and the pain we cause ourselves can break us in so many ways but it can also bring us closer to the One who knows exactly how much suffering this life can bring. What a comfort to know He gets it and chose to live it, and yet, unlike us, He never sinned. He was on mission to save the world with His life.”
———————————————————-

Words that remind us of the power of the coming of the Christ!
I pray they bless you today!

Yesterday morning I had surgery (mentioned in this episode) and am in recovery now for the next 6-8 weeks. All went well but Christmas looks different for us this year because of my inability to do as much physically as I normally would. Even still, I feel grateful for so much at this moment and look forward to sharing with you in the New Year some of the beautiful God gifts I received during a process I was intensely afraid of going through.
What a good, good Father he is!

Sending much love to you all from my hotel room bed,

Lynnelle🤍

Ep.42
Honest motherhood, messy hearts and “making room”…
🏠
“I leaned over and kissed his still baby soft cheek and curled up beside him for bedtime snuggles. He was winding down quickly, favourite blanket tucked loosely under his chin…”What was your best moment today and what was the worst?” I said quietly to him, something I often ask the kids after school or during a quiet moment later in the day. It’s a helpful way to provide them an anticipated opportunity to share joys and disappointments.
A short pause. “the best was reading books 5 minutes ago”
“And what was the worst? “
A slightly longer pause…”when you yelled at us after school.”
Unexpected gut check.”
……………….

A bit of a different episode for you this week as we wrap up 2023!
I get a little personal about some of the things I enjoy about this season, the event that’s making Christmas a little different for our family this year and a recent honest moment with my youngest which made me reflect on my not-so-gentle responses and acknowledge my need for Jesus perfect example of kindness.

Also listen for an update on our series, The Thriving Home, and encouragement as you plan and prepare for the celebrations in your own family- challenges and all!

Whatever it may look like for you and yours this year…
Merry Christmas from our family to yours🤍

A new year, a new episode!

Our guest today is Emily Muckleroy, a wife and mama of 2 little girls in Colorado who loves to write in her spare time and serve in her local church. Emily and her husband Alex have faced multiple losses including heartbreaking preterm delivery of their 3rd daughter Anna.

Emily shares vulnerably with us today not only about her pregnancy losses but also of the unexpected return of a foster son they were quite sure would be permanently joining their family earlier on in their marriage. Emily explains how God used that devastating experience to help prepare her for Anna’s passing.

Pregnancy and child loss is a painful topic but Emily brings such a light to this conversation🌿

“Grace is a gift given to us that we do not deserve and cannot repay. You cannot earn God’s love.
HOWEVER
What you can do is miss out on the love of God renewing and transforming you in the midst of your suffering.

When I am overwhelmed by this life here is what I speak out loud….
It’s the truth that God has taught me to rehearse again and again that keeps my eyes focused on Him and not solely on my pain.

God you are mighty to save.
You are my strong tower.
You have an everlasting love for me!You go before me, you stand behind me.
Lord you are my refuge, my strength.
You are fighting for me.
You see me and you know me.
You are with me.
I am safe with you.
You are my everything.
And I can trust you.”
🌿
{Quote from Ep.34}

16/12/2022

“The sad truth is you never would have known looking at me from across a room or table over coffee. The fears continued to get worse. As I struggled to nurse our youngest to 1 year, a commitment I’d made with all of our children, I pushed through more fear than I knew was humanly possible. All the while going for counselling and trying to figure out what I had done wrong. That tells you a lot about how I viewed myself and more importantly how I still struggled to have a right perspective of our good God. I didn’t understand Grace and I feared myself more than I feared the God who made this universe. I was dealing with an issue of misplaced fear.”

Welcome to the last episode of 2022!🌿
I was asked to speak recently at an annual Christmas gathering of almost 150 women in our small community here in northern British Columbia, Canada. What an honour to share a message of hope and to revisit some of my testimony which includes loss and postpartum mental illness. Some of these stories were shared publicly for the first time and it was a beautiful thing to stand and testify of the things God has taught me through some incredibly painful experiences.

The hope he offers us in times of struggle is so very real and my testimony is one that points to His goodness again and again. In the most hopeless moments, God has shown me His everlasting love. I believe that everyones story is meant to be shared, whether in private conversation or on a stage or from behind a mic and it’s a joy to share with you in this way today.

I am going to be taking a 5-6 week break from producing new content for Knowing Motherhood so this is the last episode of 2022!
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to each one of you!
We have a beautiful hope because of Jesus and I pray that becomes even more real to you as we finish up this year and focus more intimately on what God has provided for us.
His love is timeless, unchanging and everlasting!
If anything that I share in this weeks episode leaves you with questions please feel free to reach out.

{n e w! Episode 33}

Last week Pat Wiedemer of Life Canada joined me to discuss what the pro-life movement looks like in Canada and what it means to truly value all life.

Our conversation continues this week as we focus in on the importance of healthy families and how to discuss the topic of abortion with our children.
Pat shares very practical thoughts on raising our children to value life and understand the importance of serving others. She also emphasizes how critical our work in the home is as mothers and the huge impact that healthy homes have in regards to this issue.
Discussion:
-raising children to value life
-teaching our children selflessness and a willingness to serve others
-setting a healthy foundation in the home to make talking about abortion easier
