Approximately 11:40 Thursday night, Ionia county sheriff, MSP and Ionia Public safety were alerted to a pursuit of a black sedan southbound on M-66 from Montcalm county. Units set up spikes just outside Ionia city limits, that were hit by the suspect vehicle and disabled an Montcalm county patrol vehicle. The suspect continued west on M-21, driving in the opposite lane of traffic. The vehicle soon became disabled, and after a short foot pursuit, the suspect was brought into custody.

AT&T called back and said their issues have been resolved. Everything should be working fine now.

AT&T just called Ionia County Central Dispatch and advised they are having temporary impairments with their service in our area. If you need to call 911 or Our Admin lines and unable to make contact. Please try a different service if it’s available to you. We will notify when we get the all clear from AT&T.

I96 is back open! Thanks for your cooperation, and special thanks to Berlin Orange Fire Department, Saranac Fire Department and Ionia County Road Department for your help!

*****TRAFFIC ALERT*****
At approximately 2pm, I96 will be closed to traffic from Morrison Lake Rd to Jordan Lake Rd (in both directions) while Consumers Energy gets a new line put up.

Good news for those in the area who are still without power, bad news for travelers. However, you will be able to take the scenic route through our beautiful countryside. Stay safe and stay tuned for further updates.
