Pam Baumgardner at Kppq-Lp Ventura DJ at CAPS Media radio station KPPQ-LP Ventura. 104.1 FM Rebroadcasts on Fridays at 5 and Sundays at noon. The radio station launched mid February, 2017.

Pam Baumgardner, formerly known as Stephanie Rose on Ventura Radio in the 90s (96ZTR, and KXBS the Bus) is back on Ventura's airwaves on the all new CAPS Media radio station, KPPQ-LP 104.1 FM. Tune in Tuesdays 5-6 for The 805 Music Scene featuring one hour of music from local artists and independent artists in and around Ventura. It will be simulcasting on internet radio soon, so we have to abide

by strong rules such as never announcing song titles before we play them; only being able to rebroadcast the same show three times a week and only for two weeks. The rules are to protect the artists so people can't steal music and try to record a song they want. By the way, if you are covering someone else's music, you should have permission to do so. I will be asking. For that reason, most music will be original work...which is really the point of doing this anyway, right? Sharing local artist's talent. If you'd like to be a part of this venture and would like to submit your music for possibility of getting played, then send a copy to CAPS Media 65 Day Road, Ventura, CA 93003, Attn: Pam's Radio Show. I play artists who live here in Ventura, live nearby, as well as most of Southern California. I also play artists who have come here to play and maybe a song or two of something I just find interesting. Tune in won't you?

Out of high school I worked a job at Radio Report Magazine on Sunset Blvd in LA, it was a trade publication for radio, and that's where I made the decision to take the leap and go to college to learn more about breaking into the field. While there I got to meet several disc jockeys and radio icons such as Buck Buchanan (KRTH, KRLA out of Los Angeles) and Casey Kasem who was syndicated across the nation with Casey Kasem's American Top 40. Pictured on the far right, the publisher of Radio Report, Claude Hall.
Great memories...and I get photo credit for this one! Circa 1979.
BTW, Claude gets credit for coining the phase "easy listening" while working at New York's WPIX in 1965.

As promised on show #191, here's our photo op with Paul Thorn!

I mentioned on air during show #189 that I would share this photo of Collective Soul the last time they played the Ventura Fair (they're returning this year too).
While I'm at it, here's a photo I took of Hozier at the Salzers Meet & Greet (also mentioned during the show). Oh the perks of working in radio, writing a music column, and providing a music scene website!
