It has come to our attention that Governor Kim Reynolds intends to put her muscle behind the passage of legislation that would strip gender identity out of the Iowa Civil Rights Act. In 1920, a group of 200 white Minneapolis residents protested the arrival of Black neighbors. They planned to organize a count of the Black residents in southwest Minneapolis. Then, the meetings stopped abruptly. But the racism didn't. It took on another form, out of public view.

Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy, and our father, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

For us, the assassination of our father is a deeply personal family loss that we have endured over the last 56 years. We hope to be provided the opportunity to review the files as a family prior to its public release.”

The Des Moines School districts' Reimagining Education Plan includes offering more full-day preschools, creating interest-based signature schools at the high school level, redesigning middle schools to include grades 7-8 and returning sixth-graders to elementary school, revamping the district into three geographical regions with feeder patterns and building, retiring and repurposing buildings, among other possibilities. School officials said more discussion will occur during upcoming community meetings.

The Des Moines School Board on Tuesday, Jan. 21, saw an overview of the new Reimagining Education plan, which would transform the district.
