Advice for the young at heart…

I have a lot of friends and coworkers who are much younger than me, and they often ask me how I feel now that I’m in my 50s.

What I can tell you is that when you get to this age, you realize that time is fleeting. And because you understand that, you become much more clear on how you want to spend your time and who you want to spend it with.

It is a wonderful stage of life—this deep understanding of yourself, the awareness of how precious your days on this earth are—it gives you clarity to prioritize your own happiness.

I highly recommend getting older. 😉

Love, Auntie 💜

Every step of the way I believe we are prepared for the next steps in life. When you are nine months pregnant you are so uncomfortable you are ready for the baby to arrive, then they become walking talking toddlers and the first day of school seems great , teenager years well that definitely prepares you for the college send off, and then years away you slowly watch them become independent and you are prepared for them to fly solo and soar. But then COVID hits, and the supposed silver lining was time spent with the family. We were all unnaturally thrown together into the same house again. We enjoyed family dinners, games, walks, binge watching shows, dance parties anything to stay entertained. Yes it was so special-such a gift- but no way to prepare for all three of my children leaving suddenly. Two have moved out permanently to new apartments and jobs, and one back to college. Three empty rooms -a silent home-plus no dog to console me during the day or job to keep me busy—luckily have a hubby I still like to spend time with. How do you cope with your newly empty nest? I am immensely proud of the the three people we created and excited to see them sour which is what keeps me going. Just feeling a bit sad now—guess I am allowed to cry out my sadness. To the next phase of life whatever that may bring!!!
