On Episode 130 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome bassist, producer, and vocalist, Teeba, to the show! After just receiving a Grammy nomination for his production and bass work on Eminem’s latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady’, Teeba has been working on music out in Detroit with renowned producer Denaun Porter for some time now. Teeba describes the journey of how he gradually became closer with Denaun over time, which eventually led to a placement on Eminem’s song “Fuel” featuring JID. Teeba is no stranger to having his music land on big songs, as his placements include the likes of Nas, DMX, Dave East, and many more.

Teeba is also the founder, bassist, and one of the vocalists of the band Harsh Armadillo, who frequently perform throughout venues in New Hampshire, and New England at large. Teeba also discusses his early years being introduced to the Massachusetts music scene, where he started to connect and work frequently with the likes of Jon Glass, Melks, and SK, amongst others. Teeba truly embodies what it means to be a musician, regardless of the doors that have opened for him because of it.

On Episode 129 of the Guest Speaker series, we welcome multi-talented ALXNE to the show! ALXNE is a full-fledged creative as an artist, producer, instrumentalist, engineer, and podcaster on the award-winning Highstreet. ALXNE shares his background beginning as a guitarist, which ultimately led him down the path he’s on today. As a guitarist, he’s played in multiple bands and toured the country, most notably on Justin Clancy’s tour in 2024.

ALXNE is now focused on the upcoming release of his album ‘Placebo’ which showcases his range as an artist instrumentally and vocally. As someone who engineers and produces for others frequently, ALXNE & Mike also discuss the difficulty in balancing creating for others and finding time to create for yourself. ALXNE also reflects on Highstreet winning Podcast of the Year at the Boston Music Awards, detailing how far the show has come, while highlighting some of their notable guests, which include Lil Xan, Dom McLennon of BROCKHAMPTON, amongst others.

On Episode 128 of the Guest Speaker series, we welcome Axestrumentals and Smok, otherwise known as The Hangaz, to the show! Axe (emcee, producer) and Smok (emcee) both hail from Dorchester, MA and have collectively been in the music game for decades. They describe their come up in hip-hop, and Dorchester’s contribution to the culture, as well as the history of Boston’s troubled history when it comes to segregation within its communities.

The Hangaz are also fresh off their latest release ‘Respect My Fanhood’ which brings together their love of sports and hip-hop in a way that any sports fan can enjoy, with songs that topically range from basketball, to football, to wrestling, and even tennis. Smok also reflects on his hockey fandom, the state of the Bruins team as a whole, and of course, The Hangaz’ music video “Something Bruin”.

Mike, Axe, & Smok cover a variety of other topics, including the problems with Boston sports media, the Mike Tyson/Jake Paul fight, whether or not Andre 3000 will ever release a hip-hop album, and so much more.

This is M-Dot’s second appearance (first since 2021) and he did not disappoint, discussing a number of topics, including his latest project ‘Daze of Greed’. He also has 3 albums ready for release in 2025, including joint albums with Big Shug and Confidence, as well as a solo project, proving he is still one of the hardest working emcees in the game today.

He also shares his experiences from his 16 international tours, with a 17th tour scheduled for the spring and summer. M-Dot also reflects on a variety of other topics, including fatherhood, being sampled on Logic’s “Vinyl Days”, getting a sync placement on 50 Cent’s show “BMF”, and a touching never-before heard story about a fan’s tragic death, whom M-Dot dedicated ‘Daze of Greed’ to, and so much more.

On Episode 126 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome artist, producer, and label owner, TRIY, to the show! After taking a few years away from releasing music, TRIY is gearing up for the release of his next project titled ‘Who Played Who?’, and its first single “Better Off Friends” is out now on all platforms. TRIY discusses what he’s been focused on since his last release ‘Did You Forget’ back in 2022, which includes focusing on his label TRIY Records, compromised of artists & .

TRIY also recently suffered the loss of his father, whom he talks about at length regarding his influence both as a person and musician.

TRIY also reflects on his own fatherhood, raising two kids who also share in his love of drumming at a young age. He also reminisces on some personal stories of his early years growing up, which include him learning to play drums at his church, being cast in a movie in high school, and his musical journey ultimately leading him to Berklee College.

Mike & TRIY also discuss a variety of topics, including TRIY being a movie buff, why Hey Arnold needs to be made into a live action movie, their gripes with Netflix and Disney+, and so much more!

On Episode 125 of the Guest Speaker Series, the multi-talented singer, producer, composer, and instrumentalist, Johan Lenox, returns for his third appearance. This time, we recorded the episode inside of Landsdowne Pub in Boston, ahead of his opening performance at House of Blues for 070 Shake’s ‘Petrichor’ tour.

Johan catches us up with what he’s been up to since his last appearance on the show, including the release of his second full-length studio album ‘I Guess We’ll Find Out’ which hit all DSP’s back in March 2024. However, much of the material on the album is still deeply relevant today regarding the political and social climate, and even the impact of the recent LA fires, which Johan & Mike talk at length about.

Johan also talks about his experience conducting an orchestra for A$AP Rocky at Rolling Loud in Thailand, having a heavy hand in production for 070 Shake’s ‘Petrichor’, as well as the visual experience that was made into a ballet, and so much more.

On Episode 124 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome back, for the third time (first time in-person) artist and producer, TAHA! This TAHA’s first podcast appearance since moving to New York City in 2022, and he discusses at length about his experiences living in New York both musically and personally. When he arrived in New York, TAHA decided to pull back from releasing music, and focus on perfecting his craft as an artist, while also teaching himself how to produce music and create animations.

Since then, TAHA recently released his brand new album ‘THE FALL’ which features artists such as MUDA!, jxylen, EDDIE SATURN, Martin Chapman, Collette March, and especially his younger sister, Ermina, who is featured on 3 songs. TAHA shares the sentimentality behind watching his sister flourish in a studio session, as well as the difference within the sound and messaging within this project in comparison to his past work.

On Episode 123 of the Guest Speaker Series, we are joined by R&B sensation Dylan Reese exclusively at The Record Co. in Boston. Originally from Chicopee, MA and now residing in LA, Dylan has steadily been on the rise within his artistry as he’s toured the country multiple times, and worked with legends such as Musiq Soulchild, Twista, Paul Wall, and additionally opened for Jon Bellion on his first ever tour.

Dylan, who used to be a rapper, discusses his lifelong love for R&B music and explains how he’s finally making the kind of music he truly always wanted to make, especially on the heels of his latest full-length release ‘EARTHQUAKE’ which received critical acclaim. Dylan shares plenty of his musical journey, but also drops a ton of gems and free game for independent artists who are trying to make a profitable and livable career in the music industry, something Dylan has accomplished for years. His goal is to pay it forward and provide as much advice for artists as possible.

Mike & Dylan also have a thorough and enlightening conversation about the beauty of being told “no”, and the need to have irrational confidence within the industry, as well as what proper “artist etiquette” looks like from multiple aspects. On Episode 122 of the Guest Speaker series, we welcome rising pop artist juliana maria to the show! Originally from Gloucester, juliana discusses the unlikeliness of her musical pursuit, as she didn’t realize the vocal talent she possessed until she was casted for a musical in high school. Juliana began recording at PHX Down Recording Studios shortly thereafter with engineer and fellow Gloucester native Ally Doody, as well as engineer Josh Schuback. She released her debut single “LOVERBOY” in 2021.

After nearly a 3-year hiatus in her releases, juliana is back in full swing, releasing two singles in 2024, the first being “OBSESSIVE”, and most recently “Just The Beginning”. She breaks down each of her 3 songs in detail, which include navigating the fallout of a long-term relationship, while becoming more grounded and confident as both a person and an artist. Juliana also shares her mindset in improving her songwriting abilities at this point in her career.

This edition of Pop Quiz with juliana also gets a little spicy, which includes memories from “The Nest”, her grave fear of turkeys, her obsession with Justin Bieber, the alarming amount of classic movies she’s never seen, a diss song that will never see the light of day, and so much more.

(Formerly ishafromthe978) is a rising superstar in MA who is incredibly versatile as a performer, vocalist, and artist. She recently released her groundbreaking project ‘RIP ISHAFROMTHE978’ as a rebrand and the start of a new era of ISHA! as an artist, which she talks about at length on this episode. The project includes features from Big Sosa, Caev, MUDA!, and Neo R3tro.

ISHA! talks about her upbringing in Lawrence as well, where music and performing were constants in her life, and also describes learning poetry in school as a spark for her songwriting abilities. ISHA! also discusses balancing her life as an artist and a mother, with her son being one of her biggest inspirations.

On Cloud 9 from The Fire Inside 2 last night. It’s easy to find talented people to fill a lineup. It’s rare to bring a group of people together who were so positive, enthusiastic, egoless, and supportive of each other. That energy manifested itself throughout the entire night. Can confidently say I’ve never been a part of a group hug after a show before 😂
