On Episode 142 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome a rising R&B/hip-hop star in the MA music scene, Yanna G, to the show! Yanna is fresh off the release of her latest album ‘ON EVERYTHING I LOVE VOL. 2’, produced in full by Billboard-charting producer Chase N. Cashe, with features such as SVMBV, Nay Speaks, Funeral Ant Bell, & Hil Holla. Yanna discusses her evolution as an artist from the album’s predecessor, as well as what it’s like to work with someone like Chase N. Cashe. She also shares her experiences performing at No Hype Fest earlier in the fall.

Basketball was also a huge part of Yanna G’s identity growing up, which she discusses at length, especially her decision to quit playing competitively despite receiving Division 1 interest. Her transition into making music was seamless, especially have musical influences like her father growing up.

Mike & Yanna also discuss a variety of additional topics, including what the Words Speak Life initiative means to her, how she embraces learning & love throughout her life, how knitting is therapeutic, why Amanda Seales’ writing resonates with her, and so much more.

It’s been a while since we’ve caught up with Maeko, but he’s back to discuss his latest album ‘Blue Green Casino’ along with the process that went into its creation. Mike & Maeko also discuss a major theme of the album which is gambling & taking risks, ultimately leading them down a conversation surrounding addiction in many forms. They also talk about trying to eliminate expectations surrounding how we measure success in relation to releasing art & music into the world. 

Maeko also shares his appreciation for his fiancé Kri for not only inspiring him creatively in his artistic direction, but also helping him in many of the aspects of his music on the business side.
