Read to the end before commenting. Ford has scaled down its EV battery plant growth. Nearly 400 Ford dealers have opted out the company’s EV program. GM is seeing the need to cut EV production costs. Ford’s CEO took a road trip and admitted that EV charging is “challenging.” The Mazda CEO has said EVs are not “taking off” in the US. Elon Musk says Teslas must be more affordable. Nearly 4,000 dealers sent a letter to Biden claiming that EV sales rules are not practical, and inventory is not selling at a rate that makes the government incentives practical. Toyota has long advised not to put all eggs in the EV basket and is booming with hybrids. And there’s more. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure EVs will win in the long run—it’s just going to work at the market’s pace rather than via government incentives and mandates. But for me? I hope to burn fuel to the end. It ain’t politics, it’s passion. And my sign? A preview of coming attractions.
