By far my favourite part of editing fitness content is running SFX passes through my videos. In my opinion, the key to good gym related sound design, is using sounds that are unnatural.
For example, the shots of athletes placing clips on the barbells. Instead of recording my own audio of a natural clip sound, I ended up using a sound effect of a duffle bag being zipped up from @lensdistortions.
