BJP Press Release | BJP

I regret to inform you that a tragic accident occurred today on the Lamaten Rolep Road, resulting in the death of Nopu Thazey a former Panchayat member. The accident was caused by a boulder that fell onto the road on the under-construction NHIDCL route, between Rolep and Lamaten near S K turning.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident may have been exacerbated by the carelessness of the construction company responsible for the ongoing works. The site, which should have adhered to safety regulations, failed to prevent this unfortunate event.

As the community mourns the loss of Mr. Thazey, we urge the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the construction practices and safety measures employed by the construction company, plus the Sikkim government department responsible for it. Ensuring the safety of our roads and the people who travel them is of utmost importance to us.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Nopu Thazey during this difficult time.
