Spectrum: Spirituality, Culture, and the Arts first appeared in the fall of 2005 as Spectrum: A Journal of Renewal Spirituality, an on-line journal seeking to further the process of spiritual renewal through new teaching and commentary on mystical spirituality and deep ecumenism. Its articles ranged from interviews with leading spiritual teachers to contributions on mystical spirituality from vari
ous religious perspectives. Most issues of Spectrum also included stories of spiritual import and reviews of new books and other media. From 2005-2009, it was a part of the Reb Zalman Legacy Project web-site. In 2012, Spectrum was re-launched in a leaner, more efficient Blog format, allowing it to get articles on-line as soon they came in, instead of waiting for an entire collection to come together in a formal issue. In 2014, the title was changed to Spectrum: Spirituality, Culture, and the Arts to better reflect its content (though the ideas of spiritual renewal continue to be at its center).
