In the year 2005 The Sleeping Shaman awoke from his slumber and using new-fangled interweb technology started to spread the word on all that is good, bad and ugly in the world of underground heavy music and offer visual depictions of bands in full onstage flight. At the start it was small but it was good and the words of the Shaman began to spread far and wide and became something that increased i
n popularity and respect beyond all initial expectations. The Shaman was amazed and deeply gladdened to see the scope and quality of the music that had appeared while he had been in the land of dreams and old kinships were happily rekindled. In 2012 the Shaman decided that it is no longer sufficient to simply spread the word on the works of others, he must now take a greater involvement and lend his experience in the guidance of the music makers…the Shaman is now a record label mogul no less!!! The Shaman hears this and laughs. Music is a universal language and deeply rooted in the core of the human psyche, any outlet for this is good and quality will speak volumes. The Shaman will not seek to dazzle you with innovation or gimmicks; instead he will overwhelm you with passion and dedication. The Shaman does not necessarily seek artists who are unique or ground breaking but looks for artists whose heart and soul is laid bare in their music and whose music speaks to him and raises certain passions to the extent that he feels it must be heard. Quality is the key so the intent is to release limited runs of vinyl, with CDs possibly at a later date should demand require it…releases that should be cherished and respected. The first fruits from Shaman Recordings’ loins will be the debut album from the Liverpool’s finest doom mongers Black Magician…a band already garnering much praise and respect. This release is set to turn the summer skies a darker shade in 2012 so listen out for the Shaman’s voice with more news in the near future.
