By-elections in Nigeria, an online user reacts in Benue

My observation and recommendations after Guma 1 by-election

The Guma 1 State constituency by-election result revealed that Rt Hon Dickson Tarkighir/ Hon Peter Uche of APC won with 5,289 votes and defeated Ex- Governor Ortom/ Hon Jimin Geoffrey of PDP who came second position and scored 4,134 votes.

Meanwhile,Governor Hycinth Alia/Hon Peter China of Labour Party came a distant third with 2,833 votes after allegedly spending over N500 million of tax-payers money .

Gov Alia's anti Party activities should never go unpunished,to serve as a deterrent to others.

APC should immediately commence disciplinary measures against Governor Alia and his appointees of Guma extraction including Guma local government caretaker Chairman who openly worked against APC.

Moving forward, APC should begin to watch carefully as Gov Hyacinth Alia clandestinely engages in the purposeful deconstruction of APC as is increasingly becoming evident.

Edie Howe's Newcastle has secured a Champions League Football slot after 20 years of the team's wait. Magpies needing just a point to clinch the top spot held the foxes to a 0-0 draw that has kept the team at the desired level after the Leicester clash.

Edie Howe told Sky sports after the encounter; "So it's a big relief and an amazing night, to see the supporters and the reaction to what we've achieved"

How tides change easily, Newscastle last participated in the Champions league in 2003, but to think that when Leicester were winning the Premier League in 2016, Newcastle were being relegated is another thing that tells to the change that occurs in our structures and the amazing dynamics of life.

MARK GBILLAH FACES DISQUALIFICATION AS INEC PUBLISHES FINAL NAMES OF NASS CANDIDATES

The member House of Representatives for Gwer/Gwer West Rt Hon. Mark Gbillah might be shown the way of the Senatorial contest for Benue North West district (Zone B)

This is coming from the background that the member appears to have sought for permission to contest the Senate seat under two different political parties in same constituency giving rise to multiple nomination.

Recall, Hon Mark Gbillah first won the election to represent the people of Gwer/Gwer West in 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC and was reelected for a second time on the ticket of Peoples Democratic party, PDP.

In pursue of a higher representation, Hon. Mark Gbillah after getting hold of the fact that the Senate ticket for the PDP was reserved for the Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom who comes from same senatorial district with the honourable member. Hon.Gbillah had approached the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP for a slot to contest the senatorial election in the zone, a plea he was obviously obliged and nominated by the party.

Hon.Gbillah however abandoned the NNPP for reasons still unclear and picked the Labour Party ticket to represent the people of Benue North West Senatorial district also known as Zone B and has since commenced consultantion with other candidates of the Labour Party.

The lawmaker is in a serious dilemma having got his name published in two different political parties as a candidate for the senate seat, a circumstance that it position is clearly stated in the law.

The new electoral act as amended does not provide for multiple nomination and the law is explicit in this regard. Section 35 of the 2022 Electoral Act stipulates the Invalidity of multiple nomination.

The law categorically states; "Where a candidate knowingly allows himself to be nominated by more than one political party or in more than one constituency, his nomination shall be void"

The member now faces disqualification for outrightly violating the law and has to pay for his carelessness.

FALSEHOOD AND BLACKMAIL DON'T WIN ELECTIONS, ALIA TELLS PDP

The Governorship candidate of All the Progressives Congress, APC in Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has asked the Benue South PDP Senatorial Candidate, Sen. Abba Morro and the People's Democratic party PDP in Benue State to call their supporters to order, warning that “falsehood and misinformation will not win elections” for the party.

Alia in a chat with ALIALIZATION NEWSPAPER urged Sen. Abba Morro and the Benue PDP to caution their supporters and allow the election circle be about issues that will advance the growth and progress of Benue State.

He urged supporters of PDP to “desist from spreading lies, malice and denigrating other candidates as that was capable of creating unnecessary acrimony and enmity.

Father Alia further stated that Benue will be better and the electoral process will be enriched if the 2023 Governorship campaign sticks to issues of good governance that will lift millions of Benue people out of poverty rather than the dominated ravings of guttersnipes, by those who obviously do not wish the state well,".

He cautioned the Benue PDP after he read a fake report on an online media, the Idoma Voice, a news medium purely designed to discredit the APC and her candidates, which claimed that Fr. Alia asked his supporters to chase away Sen. Abba Morro during the Igede Agba festival celebration and that he referred to former governors, Aku, Adasu and Akume as looters.

"I did not ask my supporters to chase away Sen. Morro or any other person during the Igede Agba festival. Why will I do that?"

"It's also a lie that I called former Governors Aku, Adasu of blessed memories and Sen. George Akume looters when the record is there that these gentlemen left indelible marks on the sand of Benue history during their reigns".

" I think we have come to a point where it has become imperative to tell the PDP to show leadership by calling their supporters who are employing fake news and msinformation as deliberate tools to deceive and poison the minds of unsuspecting Benue citizens to order"

Alialization Newspaper gathered that trouble started when Fr. Alia left the venue of the Igede Agba festival in Oju and the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Sen. Abba Morro in his remarks asked the people not to vote for the priest. Angry supporters took time to lambast the Senator, a situation that led to the pandemonium which saw the former Minister of Interior whisked away by his security operatives.

Fr. Hyacinth Alia who is the Governorship Candidate of APC in Benue State is the most popular candidate who is loved by the Benue people.

AGGRIEVED STAFF OF LOBI STARS STORM GOVERNMENT HOUSE IN PROTEST OF IORFA OVER NON PAYMENT OF SALARIES AMONG OTHER ISSUES

30: 08: 2022

Aggrieved staff of Lobi Stars today stormed the Government House Makurdi in protest against Iorfa for non payment of salaries among several other allegations.

The aggrieved staff had yesterday 29th August, 2022 visited the House of Assembly and registered their grievances before the Chairman House Committee on Sports Hon Thomas Kwagh-Kudi and followed up to pass same to Governor Ortom today.

The aggrieved staff led by Coach John Onuh (Abacha) who are have not been paid since the assumption of office by Iorfa were addressed by the Chief Security Officer to the Governor ASP (RTD) Manasseh Orhena who assured them that the Governor was already aware of the issues in Lobi Stars but nevertheless their grievances will be properly explained to the Governor and should be expecting feedback shortly.

The aggrieved staff cited the following issues as of most concern to them.

1. Persistent non payment of Salaries.

2. Misappropriation of money meant for salaries in to buying matches instead of proving his egoistic expertise.

3. Arbitrary sack without due process of players and value added staff of the club.

4. Disbandment of the youth structure of Lobi Stars which is a statutory organ of the club and an enshrined pre-requisite in professional club licensing in Nigeria.

The aggrieved staff call on Governor Ortom to intervene in these issues and request documentary evidence of payment of Salaries like verified PVs and Bank Schedules from March 2022 up to date and compare with that of February, 2022 when his predecessor paid last.

The aggrieved staff further call on Governor Ortom to sack Dominic Iorfa and additionally remove the club from Deputy Governor's office to his own as his deputy has clearly compromised his position of supervising the club as chairman.
