As nurses, We've been trained to expect the unexpected. No two days are ever the same, and every shift brings its own set of challenges. One of the most difficult challenges that we face in our profession is when a patient falls. It can be a terrifying experience for the patient, their family, and the healthcare team.

I remember one particular shift when I was working on a busy Cardiac Stepdown unit. It was a typical day, and I was going about my routine tasks when I heard the sound of an alarm go off. As I rushed to investigate, I saw a patient lying on the floor. My heart raced as I quickly assessed the situation and found that the patient had fallen.

What happened next is on episode 207: When your Patient Falls. We talk about the experience we had when a patient fell on our shift. We discussed what happened, how it happened, and what we did next.
